Best time/situation to start…?

Many newbies ask this question: my answer is “as soon as you can”.
Seriously, there’s absolutely no reason to delay. If you’re still living with your parents, that’s the best situation ever.
Later if you go living on your own, you’ll realize how easy is to waste whole morning or afternoons for “trivial tasks” like going to town, cleaning the house, etc.
So if you aren’t engaged, live with your parents, I’d say it’s the ideal situation to start your indie business!

I agree. But I really would prefer to live on my own. B-)

Well in this case, you HAVE to be prepared to work part-time, unless you can program a game like Zuma in 2-3 months… :)

I started while I was living with my Fiancee’, working full time, loads of real life stress etc… For the past 6 months I’ve been doing games development full time and realise how much time I wasted in previous years (when I did work at home and COULD have started). So sound advice, start as soon as you can and learn from mistakes earlier!
