I haven't attempted battle yet, but I get the feeling it would crash the game.
EDIT: I got in a battle and it did indeed crash.
I can click one of them to take them out of the party, and click again to put them back in and there is no message about how you can't take that many people in your group. The message will only come up if I take four people out (so that I have a four person party) and try to add one back in. However in the change your current party menu you can add as many people as you want up until all of them are in with no warning message.

I might make a game strategy guide like happens for many RPG sold by other friends. I don't want to spoil all the fun of discovering the game secrets/tips/cheats!
