Peer pressure can have a powerful influence over people who desperately want to fit in. As someone that drinks a little on occasion, I cannot relate to people who want to get wasted every chance they get, but that's another issue altogether.
We actually used to play games like "truth or dare" or write questions and put them in a bag to pass around, and then everyone had to answer, etc, without drinking during college. Of course, sometimes we played them with drinking (or ahem, other substances). Playing them while everyone was sober was actually quite a bit of fun... you had to do things that were all you without the liquid courage backing you up, or giving you some plausible deniability for your actions.

That said, the drinking doesn't bother me... but leaving Dominic tied up all night did! I kept thinking he must've soiled himself sitting in that chair. And what if he got a stuffy nose? He wouldn't be able to breathe! I know it's a game, and not for serious, but I so felt for him during that. I would've had some serious mad on for their lack of consideration. Tied them all to their own chairs as punishment! Sober! While I drank! Until they all peed themselves! :P Okay, well, maybe not. But as Dominic, I would've tied them all to their own chairs and made them listen to lectures on tape by professors! :D :D

This may veer a bit into offtopic, but: Somehow tying up Dominic does not make sense (besides being cruel, as sabreene described). The first time they got wasted in latin house, Dominic was first against it and then joined in the fun. The second time they need to tie him up? What's up? Would it not be easier to corrupt the youth ... err ... RA the second time?

Anyway, drinking in Campus did not shock me at all. In several European countries like Austria (where I live) or Great Britain the limit for Alcohol is 16. Which is my mental reference for this. And they got wasted on two occassions, during a full year. Not like they let themselfes completly go.

I would've liked it better if Dominic either joined or gave up and went to his room to study with headphones on. There could still be a dare to kiss him, she'd just have to knock on his door, too!

I'm in the US, so the drinking age here is 21. That said, I'm also in California, where you can buy alcohol at the supermarket any day, any time. I had a cousin from a different state visit a while back, and they were surprised. Where they live you can only buy liquor from a liquor store, and only during certain hours -- so maybe schools there are more strict too. Every state has different rules on things.

At the college I went to, while they would never allow alcohol at a university-sponsored event, most RA's turned a blind eye to it in the apartments, unless it got out of hand. Sometimes they did "checks" that people knew were going to come, so people would put any alcohol/drugs out of sight for the walkthrough. I'm sure every campus is slightly different, and when I think of "houses" I think mostly of fraternities/sororities, which definitely had drinking going on in them. After living on campus for one year, I then lived off-campus in a house with 8 other people, but no RA... great times though!

To my thinking Anne probably wanted to try the beer, part of her idea of trying the new "college" life and making friends. Her studies would still be all important, but letting go once in a while to have the experience would be good. Just lock Dominic in his room or something! poor tortured guy :)

Most of the antics, if one were to view with a critical eye, wouldn't make sense, or allowed. However, as the game was inspired by various 'crazy college' movies, I let it slide like them tying Dominic up.

Yeah always remember the general tone of the game. Otherwise you might also be shocked about the various... "experiments" in the Physics Class!

I think it's a bit harsh to say Anne is acting like a moron simply because she's choosing to drink alcohol...to me that's just as judgmental as if you were criticizing her for not drinking. As a college student myself, I was very much in the same boat as Anne starting out. Withdrawn, hardly ever drank, wanting to break out my shell and all that. And in my experiences, which were actually very similar to hers, I've found that alcohol is very present in the college experience, especially in the big universities like the game seems to take place in, and if you were living with people like Max and Isabella. Unfortunate to some, perhaps, but true. That's just something that, as someone who's experienced college, I went into the game expecting, and in fact I would have been really surprised if it didn't come up at all.

But I've also found that there's nothing really wrong with it (in my opinion), as long as you're smart about it, which Anne is for the most part. She certainly is compared to, say, Max at least. The only time she really goes overboard with it is in the very first party scene, which is kind of to be expected since she has no experience with it. I actually like that the writer(s) included a scene with her figuring out her limits, since it's a really important part of learning to drink responsibly in the future.

tldr; Choosing to drink in college=/= stupid. It's just one of many things about Anne's character that the player can't control.

That said, I agree that it might be good to put some kind of rating on the game for people who are more sensitive to that kind of thing. While I personally may have been expecting to see alcohol usage and sexual content and such in this game, it isn't necessarily obvious to everyone going in.
All hail Rei's booty.

If I were Anne, I'd be calling campus security or the cops on my roommates for breaking the rules and the law.

Seriously?. it isn't stupid to drink a little and party with friends during collage, so I have to strongly disagree with you Shyguy.

I don't go out drinking or partying as much any more at my age, mostly just spend the evening with my fiance, but I would of never turned in my roommates just for something as harmless as a little drinking while socializing.

It would be fine if it weren't against the rules.
