Luck, Artifacts, and Savefiles

I am really enjoying the game, especially after figuring out how to do a few things. However I have some concerns. From what I understand, the AI opponents level when the PC levels, and the AI avatars are upgrading along with the leveling. I have noticed after leveling, the AI will have multiple avatars upgrade and by level 14-16, I have been up against level 3 avatars. This in itself is not a problem. The problem is I'm not getting upgrades. I will clean out the whole map and get everything there, but it is just not enough for a single upgrade by the time I level.

I'm sure it a case of random luck, but is there a possibly a fix for this? Is it possible to add sliders in options like the difficulty slider? Maybe three, one each for jewelry, avatars, and runes. These slides would increase or decrease the likelihood of an item appearing. Speaking of luck, I'm not a lucky person. Nine out of ten coin tosses are going to go against me. Maybe instead of multiple sliders, just do one that affects luck. This would affect the three types of artifacts and the number of points added to base skills when leveling. Just a thought.

I know you are already working on increasing the time it takes to level, and in doing so this would increase the time for finding artifacts. Right? But a luck slider would also help, especially for people like me.

Another thing, where are the save files located? I wanted to do something the other night, but I didn't want to mess up my character. I figured I could backup the savefile, and if things didn't work out I could restore the save file. But I couldn't find the file.

Again, thanks for your help.

Yes well the CPU avatars stops leveling up once you reach the max level possible (level 25). So using the Magic Shop and keeping collecting avatar you can eventually beat the computer :)
The 3 sliders is a good idea indeed, could try to add it on next update (even if right now have very little time).

The savegame directory depends on system preferences, but in general:
Windows - Documents & Settings\Username\Application Data\Magic Stones
Mac - Username\Library\Preferences\Magic Stones

I'm thinking to make a new button to have the users make backups of the game in the installation directory, since many have problems finding the savegames (indeed if you're not an expert is a bit hard).
