Actually that wasn't reduced by "much", went from 25 to 20. But yes, casting it 5 times before was 125SP, while now is 100SP so indeed quite a difference. Apolimesho first line of spells now does as much damage a melee hit if the target is weak against that specific element, so for him I left higher PP costs.

Pulled off a speed run just to test out the new Fost fight and I fought Fost at levels 13-15 once more. It's definitely much, much better than the solo fight against Fost. Getting rid of his immunities really meant something since now paralysis is all important in taking out his head and arms first as those are the more annoying aspects of the fight. His head took the role of archer and slammed the party with debuffs while his arms worked as warriors and hit the frontliners with wide slash and slow. So there is definitely a need to plan out your party and your tactics are much, much more important now against Fost especially since you don't recover HP/SP after the early chapter 4 fights (or that never took place before and I didn't notice >_>).

But the fight is definitely beatable even if you don't grind as long as you know what stats to buff and what type of items to buy so this time I have no complaints about the final boss fight. So two thumbs up for the new and improved fight against Fost!

Cool thanks for the "speed test". And I should be the one thanking you because following your suggestion, I agree that the final battle is much more interesting than previous version! 8)

Heh. Anyways time for me to refine my strategy for Loren. The improved damage for Draco and Apolimesho made them more interesting though I prefer to use my mages for healing versus doing damage. Will probably have to give Amukiki a try soon since under my current party formation, having two thieves isn't too hot an idea. Hrmmm...

I've been wondering - does staff element influence anything? They don't seem to affect (effect? I always confuse those) magic bolt or physical attack element for me, and I'm guessing it might boost elemental spell damage, but it's not explicitly spelled out either way.

There are two kinds of attack skills in Loren, static element skills and dynamic element skills. Static means that the skill has a set element that can not be changed. Dynamic, as you probably already guessed, doesn't have their own element. They use the weapons element. It's also possible for an effect to change the element for dynamic skills, but there is no skill that uses it in the game.

Since spells are usually static the staffs element won't have much of an impact. They should change the element for the basic attacks though.

Hm I think could have made sense to influence the Element damage of the Magic Bolt? right now it's neutral, but was wondering if would make sense that changes based on the Staff element...

I assumed that the staff element affected the bolt damage. In my mind, bolt was the "archery" skill for mages. Though I can see how it could be non-elemental, too, as a "basic" attack. Though ifI the staff'sthe element doesn'taffected affect anything, there's no point in having elemental staffs.

Yes, or perhaps they could just give a boost to a specific elemental skill. Like Staff of Fire could increase Fireball/Inferno/Smoke Cloud damage. Obviously, I'm talking about EXPANSION stuff (not going to put last-minute big changes like this right now!).

Ack! No way right now! Get this puppy released!

Also, random thing I discovered if anyone asks. If you have a mouse with a clickable wheel, that button will make all screen hindrances (dialogue boxes) go away so the player can see the background. This is especially important since now Rei's butt can't hide behind a text box anymore!
