Does the best weapon replaces the others?

Once we get the best weapon for a character, is it efficient enough to fight or should we keep the crossbow fire/ice... to fight? Like the crossbow of fire vs a water demon.
It's to know of I can sell the other crossbows of Rei.

I had troubles with mail notification so I turned it off
As for weapon no, maybe if you're playing in Hard against some bosses, but even then I don't think is needed to keep various elemental weapons.
