In the example above, you still paralyze the boss for 1 turn (he has 2 paralyze resist), and 1 turn of paralyze is basically useless

but if you have the Magic Chains Journeman/Expert, then you can paralyze him for longer.
I think for the more difficult boss battles I'll have to have more than 1 enemy, since designing a tough boss battle with just 1 enemy is hard (and in this game with limited healing/SP is even more).

work continues, I'm on catacombs level 4. I am using a cheat to raise the party XP every level, since I don't want someone to be able to complete the whole 9 levels of the catacomb in a single try, without doing any other activity
In practice the catacomb should be possible at certain levels like:
level 1 => party level1
level 2 => party level3
level 3 => party level6
level 4 => party level9
level 5 => party level12
level 6 => party level15
level 7 => party level18
level 8 => party level21
level 9 => party level24+
that is the reference I'll use while testing myself. In the image above 3 spiders were clearly too much since they wiped out my party (though I noticed that some battles change completely depending the order in which you execute your actions, but I don't think this is the case).
Obviously, tweaks during testing will be needed

Spider poison cutting group's damage in half. Fun fun.

They have poison bites (DoT and critical hit reduce) and cast spider's net (slow). I just noticed that both poison and spider net were reducing critical so I'll do something else instead. But yeah 3 spiders at once are too much
edit: actually not. I always forget how placement and actions really matters in this game. I was grouping the party together so the spiders AOE were doing max damage. Was enough to "ungroup" my party and voilĂ , relatively easy
