Re: Steam Greenlight

From what I know, the latest news is that they'll adjust the percentages based on the other games. I mean, is relative. If a gameY gets 15,000 upvotes and is the maximum, that will become the 100%. It's still very work-in-progress and I guess they're testing themselves the waters. (nothing of this is official, just rumors I heard)
It's also a matter of luck/randomness, for example Science Girl of my firend Hanako got 28800 views but 800 votes, so slightly more than Loren, but with twice the amount of visitors. Why that game got twice my visitors? She has no clue either

I don't know honestly HOW Steam thinks that this will help them judge the games, I mean which data they'll extrapolate from it, but Loren doesn't seem to be doing bad at all reading the comments and the votes, if I compare the game with other indie games that are there. For sure, is my most popular game :)

Also - there are lots of haters and obviously people with childish attitudes (if not very young people for real). Seeing comments like that Deji's art is HORRIBLE makes me laugh. They wish they could draw so well! Unfortunately internet is full of jealous people that rather than improving their skills through hard work, they prefer to just sit down in front of computer criticizing anyone better than them

This is kind of making me laugh at Steam. The more I hear about their GreenLight program the more I thinking it is becoming like a rigged election, with no voter registar on duty. Do not get me wrong I like the concept, but it is as poorly executed as possible. It promises allot but so far they can not deliver on anything....And then they change the rules....*shakes head* so painful it's funny.

The problem is that I'm not even sure it's their fault. In the modern world, it seems that something is popular if is somehow weird, if has blood/gore in it, if is a retro-pixelart game, if it's humorous / funny, if has zombies in it, if it's "artistic" - in practice not anything I like to make. I might be just wrong for this world of "modern gaming" and I don't want to make names but there has been some indie games on Steam recently that I simply don't get how people can just play them for more than 30s except to have a laugh. Probably it's the same for all those people regarding my games

It led me to you. Not directly though. I discovered Magical Diary by Hanaco Games there and you all are an affiliate of their :) It can work both ways :)

Yes for sure, indeed that was one of the main reason why I put my games there even if I knew had very few chances because of the nature of the games themselves :)

If you can continue making expansions or continuations to Loren and advertise it on steam. I can almost guarantee you will get 75-85 percent of the female and some male players on steam to play it. IT is so well rounded it is almost nuts. I could do with more major quests and dialog but I love the hell out of this game and I have been a gamer since the late 70s hehe 'Pong'

Right now the plan is to do Planet Stronghold 2 while all the art for Loren 2 gets made, since there will be a LOT of it :) of course, such stuff rarely goes as planned so right now I have no clue when my next game will be released
