I hadn't realized I've considered them mutually exclusive until you said that. If we do a sequel where they're still alive, they have to meet each other.

Now that would be a really cool thing.

The canon ending could be considered the one where Karen sacrifices herself (I always thought she was the one that should do it) and then Saren and Elenor would meet under Loren's rule, and they would be the parents of the new sequel hero. Argh I want to make the sequel now!

I love the posts here. If there's a sequel, I think it should revolve around the demons being accepted into society. But I adore the prequel idea so much. The thought of Apolimesho being romanceable does break a few things in my brain though, in a 'Back To The Future' kind of way: "Grandpa noooo!"

Yes definitely the sequel should deal about the demons. About the romanceable Apolimesho... maybe when he was young he was like this one on the left (a character from Amber's Magic Shop):

Well, he's got to be old enough to have a mature daughter at least. Anyway, that beard has to have been in the making since he hit puberty, so really, young Apolimesho probably looks like the man on the right. xD So maybe, he's not romancable, lol.

Well, there's the Expansion... Since it could change the ending of the game, maybe the sequel could be based on the Expansion and in whatever it will do to the story. I believe it would actually be interesting.

Now, I always played with Elenor as my character(and I had to control myself to not romance Karen or Loren, since I do have a weakness towards dark-aired girls), in the beggining of the game, Breza ask a question about our loyality to the Amazons and Elenor always say another slave approched her/befriend her and he tried to convince her to escape with him. Every answer you could give would suggest that you lost contact with him. Maybe in that case, the slave could actually be Saren?
I tried to play as Saren just to see if the slave would be a woman, but it always a "he". Perhaps in the Expansion you could change this and make a "she" if you are Saren and let the slave be a "he" if you chooses Elenor. This way, in the sequel Elenor and Saren would already know each other(maybe they served the same mistress?). I don't know, it just something that I thought would be easy to do or add...

Hm, Let's say that they served the same mistress since they were little kids... Maybe they would be like, I don't know, brother and sister?
In my headcannon, Saren was the mistress son, and his "mother" didn't want him to be lonely, so she convinced Karen to let her keep Elenor in her "care" to make things a little better for him. They grew as siblings but Saren never forgave the Amazons for making his own mother reject him and tried to escape the Citadel. However, Elenor always wanted to be an Amazon an envied Saren for being a half-amazon, so in her anger, she told them about his escape plan... And they never saw each other again, and her guilty always consumed her...
(And let's face it, Elenor/Saren is kinda of creepy... O__o since they are almost like, the same person??? I don't know... )

The best approach is clear: the sequel takes place just a few years after the events of first part. That way it is easier to reuse almost all artwork, easier to deal with personality builds, and, very important, leaving plenty of room for the future saga...

Jul - definitely a complex character, motivated by hidden, deeper drives than just ruling the world... probably a tragically long lost love?!... The chance for redemption... the nature of demons... some demons are truly evil, some are not... the grey line between light and dark... etc.

With regards to the Loren/Elenor thing, they ARE close friends with three (four?) powerful mages of different disciplines. Two words: magic, babies. (they're like science babies, but magic)
