So for whatever it's worth, my vote is for a new sprite, one that is a little more curvy, and comes across as a little less skanky as a first impression. I have mixed feelings on her "bush clothes", they fit her her background, particularly when she's walking in the forest, but I imagine lots of problems with the locals over her attire in human cities, and hygiene issues depending on where she sits or otherwise walks through barefooted in both taverns and dungeons.
Yeah could have a new sprite with two outfits, the bush one and a more regular clothes one. Just so that people can't spot her from a miles away saying "look, the bush-woman!"

Yep, sounds good.

Ah only because I don't like to tease people making them wait for months

I know you've assigned Loren's writer to PS2 and are in the process of designing an entirely new combat framework as well. So it looks like you're well on your way to addressing those issues for the sequel. Nevertheless my interest level in a PS sequel at this point is nowhere near the same as my interest level in a Loren sequel. It's very possible I may give one of the later beta's a shot if something about it eventually manages to pique my interest. At the moment however I'm finding it difficult enough to find the motivation to finish the original. A new RPG sounds potentially interesting however.
About the story, it gets better later in the game, the beginning indeed is not the best

About the combat, it depends on tastes, while is not as well designed as Loren's one, many people preferred that one over Loren's. If it's for the sci-fi setting though, then I understand

I'm actually rather fond of sci-fi. My issues with PS's combat system however are probably better aired the PS or PS2 forums than this one. I'll think about posting my issues with the game to one of those forums in the coming days.

some people even complained that Loren was TOO LONG, so...

Ahhh!! How can people playing an RPG say it was too long! An RPG has to be long for the player to be immersed and lost in the game world!

Well that follows the rule "someone will always complain about something". I thought I'd seen everything, but people complaining because a game was too long, was something rather new

Gotta learn to sift complaints. A person claiming something was "too long" is really saying "failed to hold my interest for long stretches." It's a matter of pacing rather than pure length. Take Persona 4. Long as balls, but you only really notice when you've run out of Social Links to Max and solved the mystery that forms the crux of the game's plot.
...At least, it does in Golden. Don't own a Playstation 2, so I can't play the original.
Point being, those people are probably complaining about the time taken up between plot events by fight-padding/fights by plot-padding, depending on their tastes.

...Well, at least she's wearing a shirt, even if I DID think that having some dwarf-kids woulda left her a bit... wider.

To be honest I think artist did it that way since was faster to redraw over the existing sprite

I didn't tell him to make her wider though... But Dora is always Dora!
