I like the pic, even if they don't really have much of a family resemblance due to different hair color/skin tone/facial shapes... The new Loren does seem to have a darker complexion than the old Loren did.

Yes, unfortunately when you change completely colorist is hard that they match previous skin/hair colors completely  But anyway Karen's hair is now of the same color as Loren! (he fixed it)

it is not that unusual for women to dye their hair :-)

Even the mighty Amazon's have to go along with the actual style of the season :-D

God I hate my new job. I am missing out on all these things called fun.

In any case, I'm not sure if this was covered or not. I'm personally am against anything that allows you to pick your initial romance partner. Part of the fun is actually building a relationship. Else you might as well enjoy a visual novel. Granted, if this sequel will exist, perhaps some things may be canonically acceptable. Such as Saren/Elenor being elevated from Slave Status to Servant, Loren may be a Queen instead, etc.

Was this covered? And what say you all?

Cheers

The problem is that players might want to continue a previous romance, but there's no way for me to check what player did in previous game. Or better, I could add it, but is not a good idea since people can change computer, OS can break, etc etc. The choice would work only for the first game romances though!

Going off your Sneak Romances, unless you're interested in writing 144 (12 x 12) different ways to write the dialogue, I don't see it as feasible :P

There are 2 forms of canon.

Head Canon - The Player's Own interpretation and storyline.

Canon - The Author's official timeline.

To avoid butchering yourself (HELLO BIONIC HEART 2) and the storyline, why not write some parts of the story as canon, and let the building of romances be another fun factor and head canon. If Player A decides Loren is their Partner, and Memphit another, from the previous story, now what? Unless there is not going to be any relationship building at all, in which case, you should be able to choose your previous partner.

I personally hope PS2 has romance building again. I would choose no previous partner and rebuild from there. I feel for a world to truly build its lore, there must be some official canon stamps, and some that exist through their own story telling.

Did I make any sense? :P

Cheers

Ah I see what you mean.
I think it could be possible to have both. Assuming that the player now knows the character's past, or at least good part of it. We don't want to know again about Karen's inner struggle because she thinks she is not a true amazon anymore, nor Draco's past at the academy and so on (for that, people can play the first game). That said, there could be:
- standard dialogues like the first game to get to know better the character, or to talk about the events in the main story
- specific dialogues if that character was chosen as continuing romance
- specific dialogues if that character was NOT chosen as continuing romance
at one point of the story inevitably you'll be able to break down with the existing romance to pursue a new one (is a possibility of course, you can still stick to him/her). I think this system would make everyone's happy :)

Well, I think that is the reason why there will be a "no romance in Loren 1" option to start with. I do not really see the problem here. There will be romance building, too. On the one hand you can hunt the "fresh options" down. On the other hand it can be interesting indeed to keep the "old" romance alive. Relationships change and maybe the NPC's charakter changes alongsinde specific events in Arvaron too, so you have to keep your relationship alive. That's a way of relationship building, too.

You might want to add a few lines of text to the game, to give new players the information they missed in Loren 1 (for example, that Karen tried to murder herself or that Chambarra is a lonely black mage that put oyu under her thump if you romanced her ^^). This might ease the entry into the sequel for people who did not play Loren 1. If you want Saren/Elenor to have this knowledge ingame, they could have heared rumors about Karens suicide attempt from another person in the traveling company who saved her instead of Elenor.

Funny comic I saw today and for some reason immediately made me think of Loren:

Um... I know this is going back a long long while, but I just thought I'd give a suggestion. It's probably too late to implement, even if anyone liked it, but here's my idea.

Would you consider making it so instead of having one button for sexy/normal clothing (I lovingly call it the "put on a shirt, Loren" button), have a button for each character? I really liked the button. I mean, Loren's and Elenor's cleavage... Was a little in your face.

But... That warrior outfit is amazing! I'd love to use it. But... Outfits like sexy Breza I'm a little not... Overjoyed with (well done, but... I like them covering a bit more). Is there any way, if your going to have a button to remove the (totally awesome) Saren top hat, to have an individual button to have a character sexy or normal? Maybe you could even keep a "master button" in the menu, but, if you have that off, you can pick each character.

Or do you think that defeats the purpose of the censored version? I mean, I love the censored version, but... I also love that outfit.

Any thoughts?
