Don't worry both Karen and Loren are available to romance Elenor. What made you think they wouldn't?

I was talking about her being a party member. I read something in the forum that Loren wasn't going to be a party member this time around. She still has a part to play in the story but she wont be a party member this time. I was wondering if the same applied to Karen as well. I'm just really hoping she isn't just a npc this time.

The original plot idea is being rewritten a bit, but still not sure about Loren. For Karen I think maybe she will take part in some battles but for plot reasons she won't be active party member (is a bit obvious if you check her "camp talk pose", she is in the Citadel all the time). There are more new female characters though, like Selith, Lydia, etc.

I'm assuming that she won't be the only returning character like that. If thats the case how does camp talk work then? If people aren't currently traveling with you I guess the only way would be to travel to their location. But is it camp talk if you're not in camp? :? Well enough semantics. :) I for one will be keeping the Elenor/Karen relationship alive. Kelenor if you will  or Karnor :? wait no, thats no good

A quick update: for personal reasons, Aleema had to resign from writing the game. She will still help in the design/plot/brainstorm and do some extra coding, but to make sure the game COULD be out next year we had to take this decision.
The new writer is Michael aka Mr. Envy8, who wrote Roommates and I think showed that can write good romances both straight and homosexual (lol and that is a requisite to write Loren sequels). Plus he's an avid RPG player, so I think was a good choice :)

Shame to hear that. I hope she can come back and help some other time then. While a good romance writer is good and all, I do worry about the overall story. I don't know much about Roommates, but the shift from what I assume is a campus romance to a large medieval magic war era is pretty huge. The details incorperated in writing about a world that doesn't really have a basis in real life is very hard. In some cases, being a RPG fan might work against a writer here, since it can draw from too many references about these large scale places.

But it can also be a good thing. Ask if he's ever played a Tales of game before. Those RPGs always focus on the character interacting and having a large scale plot. Sadly no choosing romances, but the subtle inbetween parts with certain pairings are usually always well-made.

I do hope everything is well with you Aleema. No, I'm not going to pry ;)

As for the new writer, I felt Mr. Envy8 did a fine job with Roommates, and I think he is up to the task :) True, the writing style will be different, but that is the nature of changes.

I just accepted last night, but I'm going to be spending the next couple weeks just playing routes, reading the wiki, and immersing myself in the lore.

I definitely want to do right by Loren and I'm excited to be working on it!

While of course I'm the first to be sad that Aleema can't work on this anymore (by the way she's fine, is not like she is sick or anything!), I am also quite confident on Mr E. skills and I think was the best choice for me to finish this game. Of course the writing style will be different, but Mr E. is a AD&D Master! so I think he should be fine in crafting fantasy worlds/stories.
