Haha well the arena might be just a safe place to bring slaves back from the raid. A closed space where the captured people are immediately surrounded by the mercenaries

I didn't mean as that, Jack. o___O I mean as story. In SOTW this is my foremost though, in fact, I will star the playthrough with Shea first and then with Althea(Since my two favorite characters until now are part of his romance options). The story itself just seemed full of unexpected events! It's like a huge adventure!

Ah OK, yes that's absolutely true. Goes all around the western island/continent of Zoltar and in many places. Then each party member also tells a story about his/her past so is even more cool (there are nomads, and elf from Grandtree and so on).

Madance wrote:Indeed. I was only saying an example, anyway. What I mean to say is to give an excuse for impractical armors. Myrth was a character that didn't bother at all, even in her sexy version, since she stated that didn't believe in clothes and all that, and I do find strange that she is suddenly dressed up in the covered version(but it's a lovely design, regardless).
In the original, Myrth and Amukiki's outfits bothered me while Loren's did not. Myrth's outfit struck me as highly unhygienic, and a tad skanky. Amukiki looked like a slab of man-meat on display, even as he trudged up and down snow-covered mountains. Loren's outfit, while revealing, didn't reveal as much as the other two's outfits.
Loren, on the other hand, was a character that I could not even look in the uncovered version for long, she was using an impossible armor, so ridiculous small that made me disdain every commentary she made about going to battle. In the covered version, things got better(but not that much. She still is without a proper armor), and I only turned the suggestive content on the romance scenes.
The new armor doesn't look the least bit proper to me. In fact it looks to me like it would chafe. On the other hand I didn't consider the old outfit as armor at all. It looked like a revealing leather outfit to me. So I wasn't as hard on it.
Now, the design of the armor of Loren in the sequel even in the sexy version was acceptable. Beautiful, and as Jack stated, could be used in a fantasy setting, with all that magic and what not. But still, if the covered version Loren is with more armor, I would be way more satisfied.
Eh, I'm not a fan of Loren's new look. We'll have to agree to disagree on this.
I think someone had the idea of letting the player choose whose character to turn the covered version, then players could choose who would be with the sexy outfit and what not. I agree with the idea, since would give more freedom to the player.
Agreed.

Speaking of practicalities, one thing people often overlook about armor is the weight. There's a lot of it. Any amount of armor will hinder movement, especially for a woman, due to the comparative lack of muscle. Agile fighters, like our dual-wielding Loren, need unrestricted movement for a combat style that's really all about speed and maneuverability, darting in and out quickly, sidestepping, dodging, twisting, spin kicking. It makes little sense for certain characters to wear more than flexible clothing, really; armor's not for everyone. Plus, shouldn't the tribal warrior women of yore be generally wearing nothing more than animal skins anyway, rather than platemail?

Not as much as you might think. Plate armor (there's no such thing as plate mail) could weigh as little as 30 pounds (even lighter if you didn't want a full set) and went up to a maximum of about 100 pounds (these weren't for field use.) It depends on the thickness and the period it was made. I believe some later armor was made to be 'pistol proof', with corresponding thickness increase. But the really heavy armors were made for sporting purposes (jousting) and weren't used in the field.

You could be quite maneuverable in plate armor, both man and woman. Obviously she wouldn't be as maneuverable as being unarmored, but in a practical sense, it grants her immunity from all cutting attacks from swords (why it was so popular, and why so many western swords come with points,) so she might think it worth picking up. However I get the feeling that whilst Loren could easily wear plate armor, she'd probably shun it for mail.
