Well yesterday worked up to 10PM and then had to stop myself (if I work until late then I have trouble sleeping). That's a good sign :)
I have everything ready for the 1st season, but for example I still need the middle-east/oriental looking town tileset for the second season, so I cannot do that until I have that art. Artist said should be able to make it next month though. So the plan should be that I can finish the first part/beta in a month or so and while it gets tested/tweaked he finishes the remaining tilesets.

At least in this project there are only small/minor things left :)

Aw, man! Now that you said that, some sort of gigantic delay you didn't expect is gonna happen! Why'd you got to jinx the project, Celso?

Well considering that in past 18 months everything that could have gone wrong HAS gone wrong regarding my working partners (problems with artists, writers, etc etc etc) with a FEW exceptions, I suppose that for statistical reasons ONE project out of 10 that goes smoothly could happen !

Jokes apart, if I didn't do the tileset maps thing, the random items, etc I could probably have already finished the first season. But when I'm playing it, I think is really worth it. Is more worrying games that don't make progress as I wanted because of slow writing, than others that are delayed because I am adding a lot of new content/gameplay and the extra time is due simply to new work for the various partners that *I* decided to add 8)

posting this image only to get some proofread advice
No seriously, to show an important step: the beginning of the "open world / free roaming" stage. Now going to add the various sidequests and play test the game more. Once I got everything setup, this is going faster than I thought :)
Is quite fun the game so far, since differently from Loren you don't have "unlimited resources". You can buy potions but are very expensive, so you cannot simply grind unlimited amount of time knowing that you can stock up healing/mana potions and keep doing this.
Needless to say, you need to save often at higher difficulty levels!

What's to stop me from taking on a very easy opponent and just delaying the victory so I can heal my party up and regen mana?

Mana regen will be much harder than in Loren, at least in the early stages :) Also, there won't be any really "easy opponents" fights. Anyway, I encourage everyone to find exploits in the system once the beta is ready. As long as the "trick" is not trivial (ie 100% success rate) I think is fine, I don't want to make a unbeatable / unforgivable game.

weird and TOTALLY unorthodox design decision :P

Well you got what I really wanted to say
I think the first season will give me a lot of feedback on things to tweak/change. Then after I am happy with it will finish the rest of the game (of course I can't change the game radically after the 1st season since would need to redo a lot of work).

see which EPIC SIDEQUESTS you'll have to solve!!! 8)
They complained that Loren was too clichè? save the carrots is going to revolution the world of fantasy roleplay storytelling!

(this is the first sidequest I'm coding, and is a bit funny. Don't worry you'll still have to face Liches hidden in underground tombs as well )
