Ah no, not arena mercenaries, but sort of bodyguards of the families of the town :)

I think what Jack meant it's why you see a combination of humans and elves in the same party, not that it should be unorthodox to fight either of them.

Also magic damage has sucked at causing stagger for as long as I've played these games :P
If at first try it doesn't explode, it ain't Jack who wrote the code.

You should add some extra text for the case that the party has 0 gold when meeting the bandits.

"All right, you win" (You paid 0 gold coins.) - "Good, you can pass now." is rather stupid :)

Haha true. Going to change it, so that if is 0 they won't let you pass (I could make it even minimum 10g, but since is an early battle don't want to be too bastard).
I'll raise again the stagger done by Magic by a bit on next update!

I don't know that you need to change magic and stagger. I'm scared of any change that would make Mormont's back row even stronger.
If at first try it doesn't explode, it ain't Jack who wrote the code.

Tiny detail I noticed, maybe this has been reported before?
+If you choose to fight the pelt-stealing bandits (surprise attack), Vaelis will stay outside of the cave when you check the pelts: On the screen you'll see only the twins. Makes sense.
+If you choose to bargain a deal with the bandits, Vaelis will declare that he'll stay outside again. You'll still see Vaelis on the screen the whole time as the dialogue continues. Doesn't make sense. Also, afterwards, when the trio heads out out of the cave, the bandits still stay on the screen up until the end and the only thing that changes, is the direction Vaelis faces.

Unless there will be repercussions later in the game on such dishonesty, it really pays off to strike a bargain. C'mon, no fighting, + 500gold and the only thing you lose is one completed quest! (Of course, that 7/8 quest log is hard to accept for a perfectionist like me. :P

You get bonus experience if you complete all 8. And you get 370 gold if you steal pelts after kicking their asses, plus 100 for the completed quest. Plus whatever they drop...

That's true. For easy money and instant cash to buy better equipment for other fights that might still be a viable option.... of course, savefiles help to go around that...
Storyline changes might still be worth it, though, if there are any. :twisted:
