OK then I'll check, I don't think should be a problem to leave skill points to accumulate like happens with the attributes if you don't want to use them immediately.

Re: SOTW 0.8.9 - First Act Beta preview!
maybe I found another problem with the skill traits: Say your druid (the class I'm most familiar with) should have Archwizard and Elementalist. To reach 25 in skill and constitution (two attributes not useless for druids, but still not the optimal use of attribute points) one has to invest nearly 30 % of all available points for hard and NM and still about 25 % for normal.
Probably other suboptimal skill requirements exist for other classes, not sure how this could be solved (and if it should solved, to make it nearly impossible to get both traits could be seen as feature, not bug)

I made those values before doing the attributes tweaks, but in general I'd want that players get max 2 traits (and that should be hard). Of course I might increase the bonus/benefits if it's hard to get them. Is probably one thing I still need to balance a bit

Wouldn't be much of a requirement if you got it with optimally spent points though. My longterm plan for druids is actually to get 20-25 in everything (depending on traits), maybe even strength, and then dump excess points in con/will.
That being said I think traits could use a closer look. For starters, we have dual wield in the druid tree, that's just useless. I should like for the traits selection to be tailored on a class basis, I'm so missing a +speed trait. Also perhaps the traits you get with your favorite stats shouldn't be as powerful as the ones you go out of your way to get. Like the +health trait could give +25% for druids and the +magic trait could give +25% for warriors.
Funny observation: The +defense trait does not require the attribute that increases defense ^^
Also out of curiosity, do you actually want Elementalist on a druid?

If at first try it doesn't explode, it ain't Jack who wrote the code.

mostly because of the name (my druid is Archwizard AND Elementalist!!!1!!), but elemental attacks are the worst problem for backrow guys, so even more resistance than mages have anyway is not a disadvantage (but yes, Willpower is the low-hanging fruit for mages and more useful...)

Having an 80 HP druid at level 1 can be more useful than you think...renke_ wrote:Legendzerox wrote:+1, most bugging is the "favorite exercise" trait with the druid: all possabilities (const, strength, skill bonus) are not that useful for low-level druids.Legenzerox wrote:Edit: Also the bonus you get at the start of a new game is random, and I find myself going back to main menu to try again if I get something that I didn't want.

probably true for hard/NM - but with normal my backrow crew never losed more than 10 HP or so (I never had more than one ranged attack while fighting the necromancer, typically this happens every 4th game [+/-]). so no, in my case a druid with 80 HP is not that fascinating ;)

Re: SOTW 0.8.9 - First Act Beta preview!
This sounds a bit dramatic. If you want 25 in every attribute and don't pick an attribute birthday gift, you can still have that by level 26. Now I don't think anyone will want 25 in all of them, so that still leaves a decent amount of points for customization after you've gotten the necessary stats for your traits. I think 25 is a well chosen requirementTo reach 25 in skill and constitution (two attributes not useless for druids, but still not the optimal use of attribute points) one has to invest nearly 30 % of all available points for hard and NM and still about 25 % for normal.

Cool! While I haven't really been around much on the forums for a few months I've been keeping tabs with the development of your games, glad to see this game is making good strides in progress! I'll be sure to try the demo when I get some free time and pre-order it if it has the same quality as Loren1!

Thanks, well is hard for me to judge my own games. For sure SOTW has more variety and sidequests, for the rest I won't say anything and let people judge
