Schooners can also look like this:

A wee bit more impressive, no? ;)

Well they could, but schooners certainly did not look like the picture in the game.

I realize I may go a bit OT with this rant, but the pictures of the ships look cheap, Maybe cheap is not the right word, but they look as if some unrelated pictures were thrown into the game which absolutly and jarringly do not belong into the world they are in. There may be some leeway for the rule of cool, but the ships not matching the rest of the world kill the immersion. Not that there are no other instances which break immersion.

Not that the pictures are the only problems. I already wrote about the issues I have with the plot a few posts back. (Maybe this makes the post a bit more on-topic). And despite the rant about the ships, I consider the missing goal a bit more serious.

Hmm I am not sure I agree about the missing goal. I mean act1=sort of introduction, OK. Act 2, the goal would be clearly to survive, and possibly escape from the arena. In act3, the goal, as simple as it might be, is fame and money :) sort of living the pirate lifestyle. In ac4, is to investigate what happened to Ninim.

Of course different people will have different point of views, is normal. I agree there can be other issues with the game but honestly the "missing goal" I don't think was a big one, at least for my tastes. But consider that one of my favorite RPG of all times is Darklands which has no "clear goal" either...

My interpretation of the story:
Spoiler:
Act 1 - The hero's background / Adventure Begins. - freedom got robbed because of some injustice and hero needs to do something about it
Act 2 - Establishment of Team Freedom Fighter / Welcome to the Family - people of common goal unite
Act 3 - Sail with Freedom / Freedom Fighter in Action - this game must be about family and freedom
Act 4 - Two lost kids return to daddy... - (ノ ゜Д゜)ノ ︵ ┻━┻

Well the "big revelation", was
Spoiler:
supposed to be that both the twins are shapeshifter and can turn into wolves. And the last act was supposed to be more like "we must save our hometown"!
Anyways, critiques are welcome, even with ASCII art

Since we're considering what to do about the DLC, what would you like to see in it? I will need to wait until end of month to see if is economically worth it for me, but I think so. But if you have any suggestion to make, go ahead. Like:
- more romances! (that would mean introduce new romanceable characters in the DLC though, as NPC maybe)
- more political intrigue/roleplay part/multiple choices & endings
- more of the same, more battles and enemies  (this will be fabulaparva choice lol)
- something else

Only thing I can't do is add more skills (a new character is planned, but just that) since the game has already a lot of those skills and I don't think can do more than that (running out of ideas, and I don't like the method of reusing same skills with different names).

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE \(^.^)/

And Daronas needs a bath. Give him a bath, goddammit! :P

EDIT: Seriously, though: I would like more political intrigue and multiple choice + endings. Having battling in addition never hurts. (oxymoron intended)

-I guess everyone want more romance. NPC are ok if they get enough scene to make the romance work
-For the choice something that we can see the consequence in one of the loren game would be great(like in loren in chap 1 there was the empire's path and grandtree's path, something like that in loren 2 or 3 except the path is chosen in fonction of which ending you got in SOTW expension).
-you can throw away the battles completely since it is still SOTW but it doesn't have to be fabulaparvea's paradise

well maybe his/her paradise isn't in battles.

I'm most impressed by the fact that the Thomas W. Lawson could be manned by a crew of 16. Not exactly an epic warship.

Talk about ships, you can use Assassin Creed Black Flag as reference. Since that game also relate to history, it has good credibility. Its most terrifying ship is the Man-of-War, which also exists in history:

Wikipedia - The man-of-war design developed by Sir John Hawkins, had three masts, each with three to four sails, which could be up to 200 feet long and could have up to 124 guns: four at the bow, eight at the stern, and 56 in each broadside. All these cannons required three gun decks to hold them, one more than any earlier ship. It had a maximum sailing speed of eight or nine knots.

How big is this DLC? If this is an epilogue, I don't think romances would make sense - wouldn't have enough time to "get to know them". If it's like the Loren expansion where they'd be added mid-game then maybe, but that's a lot more work. Anyway, not at the top of my list since I don't think they'd fit in well with the story.

Yes!

Honestly would like fewer battles. Though make the ones you include really cool to compensate. (Besides, how do you avoid people hitting level 30 with lots of battles?)
- something else
Would be nice to really spend time with the wolf and denizens and places of Ninim (twins' and Vaelis' houses? ;) ) post-Act 4, the ratmen, and any other minor thing to round out the experience. A minigame would be neat too, those were usually fun.
