I plan to write more about your... "impression" My goal is to create an even more "grey" world, where the distinction between "good" and "evil" and "right" and "wrong" is really hard to define.

Will the entire game take place on Planet Stronghold again or will more planets be visited?

While it's not something I have set in stone, I'm thinking to have it set on Planet Stronghold again. The premise is a war between the Human Empire and the Marada over a new source of energy that springs from the planet, like a vegetable. Human Empire wants it to use it (a bit like what modern countries do for oil...) while the Marada wants to preserve the planet flora since they have other forms of energy/are not interested in it.

The Empire is just so unabashedly evil. It's going to be tough to make them seem "morally grey."

Well, maybe the Empire could be the "lesser evil". The alien races in Planet Stronghold don't seem very friendly either. They're all warlike and even the Marada seem to have a hidden agenda.

I'll draw a parallel with the Imperium of Man from Warhammer universe, although of course Planet Stronghold is not that bleak and grim.

Hmm yes that's true. What if I throw in something like "Earth is running out of resources and the Planet Stronghold newfound energy would save lives?". Maybe that will balance things out a bit?

I think that's what happens when there's a long feud between two races. It's true that is the human that colonize the planet. But I don't think I mentioned exactly how it happened, maybe they tried to do it peacefully at first, and then SOME alien races (Apex, Dredans) launched a surprise attack? from them, was just continuous retaliation from both sides...
Some alien races like the Matrick are basically peaceful, they were manipulated. Maradas are more subtle, while not evil per se, they seem not afraid to use subterfuges to obtain their goals though.

That's what I was thinking; make it absolutely imperative that this new energy be harvested with lives already lost and counting. Otherwise, it's like, "leave the pretty vegetables alone, you bullies!"

Ok cool :) From human PoV it would be a matter of survival, and they would think Marada's are evil/bastard because they don't understand there's lives at stake. For the Marada's instead they'd see the humans as evil because they want to rob them of their own planet resources, and so on 8)

Speaking of Marada, they're not all the sexy feminine-looking alien thing:

I wanted to call it "Marada Ogre", but even Marada Warrior should be good. After all it's the look that is intimidating!
