"unless someone somehow manages to reach level 17, I'll then lower the XP of some quests again so you can't reach it"
But yes if you happen to reach that let me know Fabula's save has the main char with about 1000 XP left to reach level 17 so I think should be just impossible to reach it, but you never know!
yayswordsJul 17, 2014
Well if the criteria is Vaelis and the twins reaching 17 I'm sure I could hax it by just leaving the other characters out of fights as much as possible
A better measurement would be average exp per character.
jack1974Jul 17, 2014
Yes true. Maybe I should have just increased the quest XP (easier to control), and not the random encounters...
To be fair I can just allow autolevel to 16 the lowest chars, for example in fabula Rowinda is level 12 so choosing that option she would go up to 16. But indeed since is an optional choice the important thing would be that at end of act2 playing "normally" there shouldn't be a big difference between the various chars. I changed the starting XP of the new characters when they join in last update, so maybe will be better now.
fabulaparvaJul 17, 2014
Haha yes, well Leif is Krimm's brother so should be tough
I thought she was supposed to "marry" him until she bested him and then Atli threw him out and took Krimm as his daughter.
...Or did we just hop into Lannister territory?
EDIT: New tooltips look good. I hope that'll help me not to click on the wrong consumable in fights (has happened before when I've gotten sloppy with my clicks )
TaleweaverJul 17, 2014
Jack must have gotten something wrong on the way about Krimm and Leif ^_^
fabulaparvaJul 17, 2014
Whew!
Although Leif trying to grope his own sister would've been a better reason to throw him out of the tribe than him losing a wrestling match to a woman.
TaleweaverJul 17, 2014
No, that would have been quite acceptable if she had been his half-sister (same mother, different father). In a small tribe like Krimm's, semi-incestuous relationships are not uncommon.
fabulaparvaJul 17, 2014
Oh, I didn't quite realize how small the tribe was. Thanks for pointing that out.
jack1974Jul 17, 2014
Yes sorry, been working too much lately I meant he's not her brother but her future husband so should be strong
I've lowered the minimum to 14, since you get new skills at 15,18,21,24,27,30 levels. Since level cap should be 25, I am expecting the progress to be:
ACT3 = level 14 to 20
ACT4 = level 20 to 25
this is not related much to the length of the acts but the fact that takes more XP to gain a new level as you level up (2000XP after level 20, and 3000XP for level 25).
And yeah I've already begun coding Act3! NO TIME TO LOSE! Like for act2 I have no tileset and still missing some art, but meanwhile I can code the battles
yayswordsJul 17, 2014
Is 25 a hard cap? Like if we get 25, it's impossible to get more xp? If so, does that mean that xp will spill over to <25 characters?
TaleweaverJul 17, 2014
BTW, Jack, beautiful job on Shacklesplit altogether. Really communicates that medi-medi feel (medievlal Mediterranean).

No I won't put a fixed cap in the code, but I'll balance (heh) the game so that shouldn't be possible to get there. If some characters get to 26 or even 27 is not a big deal. I was more thinking to avoid unlocking all skills. Another solution would be to delay the skillpoint assignation every 4-5 levels too. Could be after level 15, you get a skillpoint at 20,25,30. That's another option!

Thanks artist did a really good job on the game backgrounds indeed!

Ah, so only the lower-than-level-14 characters will be autoleveled to 14! I wasn't sure if you meant that at the beginning of Act 3, the player would have to choose to either continue what they had or scale all their characters to the "correct level", which would've meant in that one savefile of mine that Rowinda would've risen up to 14 and 5 of my other chars would've sunk down to 14 from 16 and 15. I've seen that in done other RPGs. It's infuriating. I was honestly glad to hear that there was a choice to not have to do that, but that the choice is only to better your levels, that's even better.
Pwetty background that is. I bet the tileset will be as topnotch-pwetty as the previous ones have been.
Stumbled upon another very minor typo: Riley: "This area belongs to the Kiduu family. Their family crest is a ivy leaf." Should be 'an ivy leaf."
TaleweaverJul 17, 2014
Just for the record, Autoleveling sounds like something that should be exclusive to Easy Mode. Maybe Normal. Definitely not Hard or Nightmare. My nightmares don't include people handing me free XP.
fabulaparvaJul 17, 2014
Heh, fine with that, too, as long as the levels won't be forced to drop... well, that *would* be nightmarish....
"Master of the Pits has just whipped you down a level."
renke_Jul 17, 2014
somewhere here(tm) you wrote that all short cuts are disabled for the first visit as this lead to problems with the new location found trigger. You forgot one: Kiduu to Galanna is still there on the first visit
addendum: also Galanna to Gamesh
renke_Jul 17, 2014
and some nit-picking: Optional guard battles shouldn't be announced with "Mercs! And they are attacking!" (and similar) - I stepped on the field because it was my wish to rip them open and loot the cadavers

Sorry if this has already been reported:
In 0.8.17 you can clone weapons or armor: For this you need to wear a (bad) item. Go into the shop, and check if there is another item with the same picture. (The same picture is necessary, added letters like F can be ignored.) Then you can either:
- Buy the item, choose "equip directly", and the item put into the inventory has the stats of the bought item, not the worn item. And you wear the bought item as well. Make sure you only buy good stuff
- Or buy the item into the inventory, and equip from the inventory (while in the shop). (For Bonus points, take an item cloned in above way...)
I am not sure if this happens as well outside a shop.
