I still think Magdalene should be at least mentioned, but that's ok, in my headcanon she died in that war(she does speak about a violent war in the second game, during Heileen's dream, so why not? XD) and Heileen still don't know about it, but that's is the reason why she dreamed of her. XDD

Just played through with Ebele... need to play the others to truly compare, but Ebele and Juliet (as before) look like they'll probably be my favorites.

Even in the first game her personality is quite fragile, and after everything happened (shipwreck, being separated, etc). There are other reasons of course, one of them is that she has a sort of love/hate relationship for Heileen (she is envy of her but at same time she loves her).

She has always been my fave characters and I was one of the people who first brought the idea of making her and romance... and I wasn't disappointed. I loved the slow break up with Robert but the strong bond that remained and the tender meal. The CG was the only thing I wasn't completely sold on. Having them hugging on the bed or just holding hands in the candlelight. The grape eating was not a romantic as the picture in my head but still good all the same.

Marie

She is a fragile bomb and her eventual breakdown was captured beautifully in the CG (and the writing) but I was disappointed that Heileen didn't thrown that cake right in Marie's face

Lora

It was done wonderfully but this romance always weirded me out to be honest. The fact she was with Otto didn't bother me it was the fact she had brought her up. But oh well whatever floats your boat. I will say the romance (step mum/aunt thing aside) was sweet, one thing that made me laugh was the end story "Otto wasn't happy" LOL well... Duh!!

I've still only played Ebele and Juliet, and of the two, I liked Ebele's better. (Juliet was still sweet, but Ebele made me go 'awwww')



I played a good portion of the Marie and Lora paths, but they didn't quite do it for me; Lora was too much like family, and Marie was... Marie. Not my type at all.



I think Juliet's had the better CG, but Ebele's was nice too; sort of sweet and understated, much like Ebele herself.

Juliet was my favourite one in general. I'm not going to lie I didn't like the game that much. But I really liked Juliet. The other female romances hardly had any build-up. I like Lora as a character but her path just weirded me out. Not because of the mother-daughter relationship they had. The Otto issue was simply hand waved. That's just a big no for me.



This isn't really about the romances but I might as well say it .I can't help but think that this game was a step backwards. I liked the second game. It was innovative with the card system. It had some sort of mystery going on about Heileen's parents and you had a certain goal. The different endings were fun. Ebele and Robert were both well developed characters their interactions with each other and Heileen felt natural. Heileen 3 has none of these.

Just my thoughts. It's not like I hated the game or anything.

No problems about the critiques! To be fair Heileen 2 is a game very different from the other two, is more serious, a different kind of theme/setting. I am not going to lie too: the second didn't really sell well, so for this one I had to go back to light-comedy and more romance / less mystery. From my experience, like in books/movies, sadly quite often authors aren't really free to tell the stories they want but need to adapt to what sells

Hm...I find Heileen 2 interesting though. The voice is quite good, and the gameplay is...special. Yes it's a bit too serious for my taste but I like the idea. Lol...how can you be so creative with that many good games? For GxG voting, I think Ebele the first, next is Juliet (not that Ebele is great or anything, it's just the stuff between Juliet and Morgan made me put her 2nd place ...omg...my Morgan.... ) Lora is like family to me, so not really And yes, Marie is a little cranky...ugh no, I mean a lot.

There are more scenes and a longer story here so I really like it ^-^

My ranking would be: Juliet > Ebele >>Marie>Lora



I really liked the progress of Heileen's and Juliet's relationship. The way both started to learn more about each other, the brief kindness from Juliet and the fantastic ending itself. I felt it was all natural and genuinely interesting to read through. It helps that Juliet is one of my favourite characters with her complicated, harsh and interesting personality.



Ebele is a close second here. I found their interactions sweet and endearing. Ebele is such a gentle character and the type that is hard to dislike (unless you count the "perfect" character aspect). I was saddened by her breakup with Robert but since it was done in a believable way it didn't dampen my enjoyment for this yuri pair.



Marie comes in next. I loved their strong friendship here but as a romantical pair I'm pretty neutral. Their ending scene was quite touching.



Lora comes in last. I enjoyed their interactions more as a "morther/daughter" type of interaction than the romantic kind. The romantic side didn't have much build up and while it didn't weird me out it was still quite disappointing. I also disliked how the possible conflict with Otto was brushed aside. It would have been better if it was brought up in the game (like Robert's and Ebele's relationship) rather than just seeing it in the epilogue.

Oooh, I loved Juliet! I kind of made the decision to have Heileen go after her as soon as I possibly could anyway (i.e. when the expansion was released), so there was probably a bias there. I was very excited for it and wound up quite pleased by it. I think I just have something for assertive older tsundere-ish women who kind of melt when you continue to show concern for them anyway. :p



And as for both she and Morgan being popular, I think it was piratey seduction as well. Though to be serious, I liked Jonathan, but as well as moments of suaveness I particularly liked how Morgan continually showed concern for Heileen and treated her equally/talked to her with seriousness. In general I thought Juliet and Morgan in particular had strong personalities you can romanticize(???), and I was very much endeared by their character and routes.

Okay, the romance with Marie was a little sweet, and the friendship turning out to be more was a nice addition, but I did not liked the fact that she cries easily and has suicidal tendencies.

Her romance was very loving and the CG was great. I did not liked that it was short and it seemed that it mostly consisted of her been very insecure because of her age.

I liked her more than Marie and Lora, because she seems to be very kind and loving with Heileen. Even knowing that she was with Robert, I could not help to like it. I did not liked the CG as much as Lora's. Maybe a little kiss or hug would have been better for me.

I also like the strong females and Juliet has that whole proven Tsundere quality which is perfectly validated by her need to not show weakness to maintain the respect of the crew she's in charge of. That was a very well written romance.

I have to say this is the 2nd time I have disagreed with the popular choice the first was with Mesphit on Loren I would beat that man away with a stick to protect poor Elenor.

This time round I am going to have to say while Juliet was not my favourite it was Ebele. I preferred Ebele's ending CG that was an awesome idea and I loved it but Juliet mostly loses because I have been given a tsundere overdose from reading too much manga, watching too much anime and playing too many JRPGs with tsunderes with them that it is hard for me to like a character like that however Juliet is still 2nd for me. Marie was a little too mean but in her defence I feel that Heileen was being a little dense considering all the signs she tried to give her and as for Lora I think the end was too rushed well it felt that way to me anyway.

Not a vote yet, because i haven't played it. But i wonder; does it matter if you buy the whole serie and you start with the first one and then so on? Like with ME.

Cause as far as i know some chars are there from start, lik lola, marie and ebele. By the way; i don't think it is that weird that the so called aunt Lola is one of the candidates to date. You already see in the first one that lola does care about heileen and has somewhat an eye on her. There is the saying that you have to learn it on an old bicycle.

You can play only the 3rd episode if you want, since there's a summary at the beginning of what happened. However if you do you'll somehow miss some interesting scenes IMHO. But I could be biased so maybe some other user could answer better

I played the series last weekend and from the moment she showed up she was going to be the one I pursued in my play through. I do not have specific reasons why but the scene the first time I played where she

tossed Heileen into the boat and stayed on the ship really made it all work for me. Especially when it is pointed out that it was the last lifeboat.

The second game I spent all of it wondering if the cast from the first game was going to re unite and I was waiting for it.



Finally I get to the third and to my great joy everyone is back.



Of the four women in the game I had this mentality.



Lora = mom. Yeah not going to be able to get past that part.



Ebele. With Robert. I know the plot has the two grow distant, but that mindset was with me when I started and it stayed.



It is not that I dislike either of the two characters above, I simply feel no real draw to them as I do the two to follow up.



Juliette. Ok have to admit she's a close #2 choice for me. (And some days depending on mood a clear winner.) Her whole no nonsense attitude and direct nature are two traits I really am drawn to among others she has in high supply. However she's a bit more blood thirsty than I am comfortable with. (Remember she wants Morgan to go back to raiding, which means blood and guts maiming and killing.)



Marie. As mentioned above I liked her from scene 1 of game 1 and that didn't change. I will admit the hurting oneself for attention, or out of despair thing really does bother me and would be something of a warning flag in a real life scenario. However I am going to overthink it and write a poorly typed defense for some of those things. Game 1 pretty much establishes that

she's gay or at least bi-sexual with all of identity issues that come with that nature. I mean each time I have played Heileen 1 Marie is who was her first kiss. Fast forward to the end of the game. The storm comes up. The ship sinks. Marie tosses best friend/ probable beloved into the last life boat fully expecting it to be her last act before drowning.

I am not sure how much time passes between 1 and 3, but it is safe to say that somehow she survived and ended up in the set of isles that game 3 takes place. Now she ends up pretty well stranded and penniless in an unknown and fairly hostile land. (Pirates remember.) Somehow she manages to find a way to make a living. She's already been run through an emotional roller coaster. Then to top it all off Heileen shows back up and the third game's plot happens with plenty of other things to keep the stress up. Even the strongest person will eventually be worn down by too much of an assault on his or her emotions.



When I think of the two characters I was drawn to the most both of them have a hidden emotional depth or strength that takes time and patience to discover. Juliette's assertiveness makes her strength of personality obvious and one has to dig to find the softer parts of her armor. Marie requires playing the first game and a bit of reading between the lines of the things she does to see her strength of character.

I finished this game long time ago,but somehow I revisited it today,and Marie is still my favorite.

Funny thing is that the reason why I like her is probably the same why she's disliked.A super demanding,clingy yet envious bff who's been secretly admiring the protagonist for so many years？And her slow,awkward and emotional(or even suicidal)part just makes it even harder to say no to her.When Heileen thought(if choose to) she "couldn't just avoid and ignore her in this sorry state" it touched my soft spot too.
