If you think there's a plot bug, press F1 and tell me the path since is very useful information for me, to see which path you took (but at this point, I really hope not!!)

Thanks to everyone who helped with this, was a nightmare :)

What's new in 1.0.1

- if you try to electrocute Julia at wrong moment, the scene ends as expected (before was still running until your structural integrity reaches zero)

- also added some more feedback to that boss fight, hoping people understand how to pass it without looking at spoilers

- fixed a bug that would let you skip scene11 and continue playing past the demo :oops (albeit with only Earth ending, so not much fun)

Changes of 1.0 from beta 0.9.6

- the dialog window doesn't disappear when the speaker changes anymore

- fixed a small bug that was showing scene31 (Helen and Tom talking about escaping) when they agreed to help Luke with the virus

WALKTHROUGH (BIG SPOILERS WARNING!)

Some simple ways to set some variables that impacts the endings:

Tanya gets caught by Julia early in the game when she is in Luke flat:

1) if playing as Tanya you picked the choice "Tina could prove dangerous"

2) if playing as Tina you picked the choice "Trust Agent Storm"

otherwise, Tanya won't get caught

Tom and Helen lovers

1) as Luke, treat Helen badly

2) as Tom, pick "I should take my chances..." when they're about to go jogging

3) win Helen boss fight with Tom

Luke gets invitation from Sarah Masters

1)At spaceport, choose "Luke misses Tanya" choice

2) Luke treats Helen badly (scold her, etc) during the next scenes

3) When Luke meets Sarah now will have an extra dialogue option, choose "though Tanya would be even more trouble"

4) accept Sarah's invitation

5) you then will have more choices but from now on is quite simple, the hardest part is to get the right pre-requisites in the beginning to unlock the dinner invitation

Jason likes Tanya: there are three degrees of likeness. You can meet him in two points.

meeting him with Tanya in the streets:

-1 = "Tell Jason you won't break his neck"

0 = choose: "Offer to kill someone for Jason"

1 = "Offer Jason some private time with you"

meeting him after Tanya is captured:

-1 = "Say you are Lucas Walker"

1 = "Say you're not Lucas Walker."

Tom suspects of Luke: early in the game when you choose the option if to trust Luke or not.

Luke gets depressed: this can happen in several ways.

1 = Tom and Helen are lovers, Luke still loves Helen (early decision at spaceport) and when he is coming back from Sarah's flat discovers them kissing. Either he wants to stop Sarah or he killed her in her flat

2 = If you win boss fight playing as Tom against Luke and you win

Tina solves the case, two conditions:

1) Tanya is not caught early, you meet Jason on the streets and have -1 relationship with him. He will say that you're a perfect distraction and run away.

2) As Tina, after Rob is killed, you search his stuff and find enough clues (3). The things to search are: "Check his receipts" - "Check his photo album" - "Check his wallet"

EARTH ONLY ENDINGS

------------------

For those endings, Mars plot must be over. A simple way to do it is with Tom failing boss fight with Sarah early in the game.

THE VACCINE:

Doesn't matter if Tanya gets caught or not. The important is that Jason is caught, so you must not have a bad relationship with him (0 or 1).

When you have to choose the brain to bring with you before the final scene, choose Lucas one

NOT GUILTY:

Like the vaccine, but don't be kind to Jason (-1), so he leaves Tanya and escapes. Tina fails to gather enough clues or is abducted/eliminated early.

THE PROMOTION:

Like previous one, but this time Tina gathers enough evidence and gets the visit of Jason that helps her.

BURIED:

Tina could be dangerous

You're caught, win first boss fight with Julia, need to have bad relationship with Jason (-1)

Bring Jason brain with you

GUILTY:

Like Buried ending, but Tina manages to gather enough clues, first winning boss fight against Rob and then examining his belonging (need to find 3 clues)

DEADLY BLONDE:

Choose Jason brain, and you were nice with him but not too much (score of zero). Nanotech gets destroyed, and Tina fails to gather enough clues.

MYSTERY WOMAN:

Like previous ending but Tina manages to gather enough clues.

Cybernetic World:

Like previous endings, but this time Jason likes you (1), so Tanya convinces him to release the virus in the final scene.

MARS ENDINGS

------------

Many Mars endings happen independently from Earth path until a certain point.

RUTHLESS:

You accept to work with Sarah, create the virus for Earth and kill Tom who suspected of Luke and came after him.

PROTECTOR:

You accept to work with Sarah, create the virus and manage to convince Tom and Helen to stay on Mars, becoming their protector. This needs that Tom doesn't suspect of Luke.

MARSICIDE:

Luke spreads the virus on Mars alone: for this, Luke needs to be depressed. It happens in scene where Luke goes back to the flat after killing Sarah. Either finds Tom and Helen kissing and he still loves Helen, OR even if doesn't love Helen, Tom doesn't suspect of him. In both cases Tom and Helen must be lovers.

NO TRUST:

Luke spreads the virus on Mars, had to kill Tom (he suspects of Luke), Helen listens to Luke because tomhelenlovers = False

KILL THEM ALL:

Luke copied the virus data, killed Sarah, spreads the virus on Mars, had to kill Tom (he suspects of Luke), Helen doesn't listen to Luke because tomhelenlovers=True and dies

FINALLY TOGETHER:

Luke is depressed and commit suicide, tomhelenlovers = True and Tom doesn't suspect of Luke, Tom and Helen escape Mars.

PUBLIC EXECUTION:

Like previous one, but Tom and Helen aren't lovers and they trust Luke (Tom doesn't suspect of Luke).

EARTH SWEET EARTH:

Tom, Luke, Helen destroyed the virus, Jason was caught so can't expose them. To reach this ending, you must not kill Sarah after spending the night with her, and you must advance Earth plot until Jason is caught and his brain extracted (you can then fail the last Tanya/Julia boss fight). Tom and Helen must not be lovers.

COMBINED ENDINGS

----------------

TOO LATE:

Luke is allied with Sarah and they prepare to spread the virus on Earth, but the virus has been spread already. You need to have Jason use the behemoth and be friend (+1) with Tanya on Earth path.

MY NAME'S LUKE:

Luke is allied with Sarah and they prepare to spread the virus on Earth, but Jason is not caught (needs to have -1 relationship with Tanya) and exposes Luke true identity to Sarah.

MOVING OUT:

Possible follow up on Mars ending 8: Tom, Luke, Helen destroyed the virus, Jason was caught so can't expose them and he didn't release the virus (jason relationship of 0 with Tanya). Tanya is alive. This ending changes slightly depending if Tom and Helen are lovers or not.

A NEW LIFE:

Possible follow up on Mars ending 8: Tom, Luke, Helen destroyed the virus, Jason was caught so can't expose them and he released the virus (jason relationship of 1 with Tanya). Tanya is alive. This ending changes slightly depending if Tom and Helen are lovers or not.

SHE HAS A SOUL:

Possible follow up on Mars ending 6: Tom and Helen are lovers, Tom don't trust luke and they both escape Mars, Jason was caught so can't expose them and he didn't release the virus (jason relationship of 0 with Tanya). Tanya is alive.

SWAN DIVE:

Possible follow up on Mars ending 4: Luke and Helen go back to Earth, Luke had to kill Tom and spread virus on Mars. Tanya gave control of behemoth to Jason who was neutral (relationship 0) to her.

TO THE MOON:

Possible follow up on Mars ending 4: Luke and Helen go back to infected Earth, Luke had to kill Tom and spread virus on Mars. Tanya gave control of behemoth to Jason who was friendly (relationship 1) to her.

ALONE:

Possible follow up on Mars ending 3 and 5: Luke returns to Earth alone, Tom/Helen are dead and meets Tanya. Tanya gave control of behemoth to Jason who was neutral (relationship 0) to her.

THE OFFER:

Possible follow up on Mars ending 3 and 5: Luke returns to Earth alone, Tom/Helen are dead and meets Tanya. Tanya gave control of behemoth to Jason who was friendly (relationship 1) to her.

LOST IN SPACE:

Jason is in control of the behemoth device and destroyed Nanotech. This in theory can be reached even only with Earth plot but wanted it to be a special bonus for completing both paths ;)

STEP BY STEP guide to win the last Tanya/Julia boss fight:

1. Kick Julia away from you

2. Force Julia's hands away from your neck

3. Plead for your life

4. Cease struggling and go limp

5. Electrocute

Mimi_melody
Will there be romance (GxB?) in the game, on Winter Wolves home page you did tag it as GxB, but since we'll be playing in different point of views with different characters and different genders (I think?), is it possible to love someone and be in a love relationship with them? (Lol, so many endings....) :|

Btw, congrats on the release, after all the nightmares
jack1974
There's romance but is very different from my other games, I put GxB but in practice playing as Tanya/Tina there will be some romantic/sad scenes related to their love interest, but not like a dating sim where in the end they live happily together (in some cases yes, but is not standard).

Linux 64 (Ubuntu 12.10)

A minor error encountered: If I resize the window, sometimes the image and the buttons will rescale with the widow, and sometimes not. Possibly related to the ren'py framework, and anyway it does not really make much difference.

And yes, I take pleasure in reporting these things, why do you ask?
jack1974
Haha yes, unfortunately is something I can't fix this myself, sorry :)

Sometimes I also have problems on Mac going fullscreen, but after 2-3 attempts work. I informed Renpy coder, but since aren't critical bugs for now I prefer to use the new version since supports linux/mac 64-bit (old one wasn't working).
Lonestar51
One more thing I found...

I have not payed yet (though it's something I will fix soon ;-) ) and I have found a way to get beyond chapter 2:

00/02/03/04/06/05/07/08/09/10/12/15/17/20

I believe I has to do with Tom's Boss-fight
P_Tigras
Ok, I'm dying to ask, whatever happened to chapter 01?
Lonestar51
Um, I just noticed that I put the wrong fight into my error description ... Luke->Tom (But that would be obvious from the scenes anyway.) Thats why the post above is now edited.
Ketilk
I think I have found two bugs:

In the second boss battle with Julia Storm: If I try to electrocute Julia I get a failed ending and can then continue fighting until I get the failed ending when my structural integrity reaches 0. I can also

retry the electrocute option which shows the electrocute-ending each time I choose that option. I managed to press that 8 times with one of my savegames.

Another Issue in another scene: Tom Sparks vs Luke black:

Tell Luke he's not being himself(at the wrong time):

Tom Sparks:

But Luke... what would Helen think if she saw you here....

I can't get any earth endings, but it is possible I am just stupid.

I fail the second boss battle with Julia Storm. Unlike the other boss fights there seems to be no correct answers. I can't figure out how to delay the fight by taking less damage, or

hurt her in any way. Maybe it is something I have not done earlier in the game? I have played through the whole game until that point four times(three independently) without any luck.

I have redone that battle a lot of times more. I am not really motivated to figure this on my own. I bought it after release so I have only used the current released version.

One of them was like this 00/02/03/04/06/05/07/08/09/10/10a/11/13/14/16/19/23/26/30/31/34/32/37/38/39

Another was like this 00/02/03/04/06/05/07/08/09/10/11/12/14/15/17/19/20/23/24/26/28/30/31/34/32/38/39

A third was like this: 00/02/03/04/06/05/07/08/09/10/11/12/14/15/17/18/20/21/22/23/24/27/28//31/30/34/32/37/38/39

A fourth was like this: 00/02/03/04/06/05/07/08/09/10/11/12/14/15/17/18/20/21/22/23/24/25/27/28/30/31/34/36/37/38/39

I will rather try with a fight spoiler from any of these save-games than having you debug all those paths.

I use the linux version, but I doubt that have anything to do with anything

jack1974
Um, I just noticed that I put the wrong fight into my error description ... Luke->Tom (But that would be obvious from the scenes anyway.) Thats why the post above is now edited.

Uhm how did you manage to skip scene11 ? that CAN'T be skipped!

edit: Nevermind, found the bug! thanks, will fix it now :)
jack1974
Ketik: ah yes probably the electrocute fail doesn't return correctly, it should just go game over indeed, will check that.

About the fight is indeed hard to figure out, the solution is

strong resistance, medium, light, then go limp and electrocute

To get Earth endings you need to fail Mars plot, and go on only with Tanya/Tina.
Lonestar51
The second boss battle against Julia is really horrible. Even in 1.0.1. I will try to describe it in a way which avoids spoilers.

What makes it so difficult are two things:

- just before the battle, the player gets a feedback that ... something ... needs 7minutes 43 seconds. Which may lead to the conclusion that the objective is to stall until ... something

- In other boss fights, I get a feedback for correct answers. Usually if I need to give a certain answer at a certain stage, the boss would answer "does not impress me" if the wrong answer and something along the lines of "need to consider" if I get forward. So if I see that after X the response to Y is changed, I know I am on the right track. In this fight I get the first noticeable difference after four correct choices.

Thanks to the spoiler from Jack it is possible, but what people do who do not read forum... I do not know.

Hmm, I get Mars ending and Earth ending as well if I get combined ending. (I have not yet found everything, and I am not sure it is always the part, but at least for some...)
jack1974
Well, originally I wanted to give more advice, but I am not sure how to do that without making it too simple...I added more feedback though, like "Tanya show weak resistance" etc. But if is still too hard to figure out, what do you suggest to do that doesn't give the solution completely away (because otherwise could be too easy) ?

For the combined endings you can get the other endings too, is normal.

The objective is to hold out long enough. The problem, however, is that Tanya's structural integrity doesn't last for seven minutes of Tina tearing at her. This is why there is a "Structural integrity" meter. You're supposed to notice that this fight is different from the others, being a physical and not a social confrontation. And if you listen to Tina's feedback, she will note that Tanya seems to be getting weaker. If you go limp early, she will even say that she doesn't believe she is dead already - the point is to realize that you have to make her believe that. It's essentially a puzzle.

One thing which would make it easier is if it would be made more clear that just surviving long enough is not an option. However, the structureal meter combined with the knowledge what is a few meters and minutes away made me go the wrong track. Tried taking minimum damage, which will not win this fight. Suggestion: Add some line like: "7 min until ... but I will not last that long. I need to get rid of Julia, ... fast"

I added more feedback though, like "Tanya show weak resistance" etc.

Hmm, I will actually have to replay this one. Julia taunts every time Tanya makes a move, mostly variations of "you are so weak". I checked for changes in the taunts, but maybe I have not been paying attention enough to see a difference between "you are so weak" and "now you are even weaker".

Sounds like an option, though that could make players try to find the "strong resistance" actions and then only go for them (which won't work).

I consider Tina a puzzle boss, so too many hints would probably spoil the experience.

Those strong/moderate/weak resistance messages are significant, but that's not immediately obvious, especially when you're thinking in terms of stalling until the brain is fully loaded into the behemoth. And yet, stalling has nothing to do with the correct strategy in that fight. I will admit that I was stumped on my first play-through until I read Jack's big fat hint on ordering the resistance messages.

Ahem... Julia ;-)

Well, I tried to go the "strong resistance" route. That's why I suggested the line above, in the hope the next player would think of a different/correct solution instead.

The hint was in the forum? (just to be clear...)

I just tried again: The taunts from Julia do not differ if the sequence is right or wrong. Only after "go limp" a reaction is visible.
jack1974
Yes P_Tigras was referring to my hint in forums.

Will think of a way to hint/suggest something (but not the exact solution) to the player... mumble mumble
Foelhe
Might want to point out in-game that you can't really beat Tina physically, so you have to trick her/out-think her? Seems like most people who had trouble with the puzzle were either treating it like a fight or trying to run out the clock, so if you remind people that it's still a game of wits, that might help.
