This bird is playing hard to get and I just can not for the life of me find out how to even a single heart on her.

If you're playing the Steam version, remember to also get the free DLC that unlocks the extra romances, including Galina, Kaden, Lola, etc (sorry it was done this way to get more promotion/visibility on Steam last year).
