I know Void Bastard dev personally Yeah those are full teams and also, I would need to stop using Ren'Py, learn Unity etc. I mean, not impossible, but very different from what I'm used to.
I saw some 3D games (using that style I posted) who had 1000 reviews... so definitely you can make topselling game with that art

Since you mentioned about the possbility of adding animation, does Ren'Py support 2D skeletal animation? It seems to be the animation method of choice for many indies other than pixel art.

Right now no, or better yes but with animations (movie files with transparent background) which is really not good. The next version should have shaders support and generally run much faster and support Live2D stuff. I am eager for it to come out since it's a big step forward I think might be done towards end of this year or next.

So after playing The Last Stop I started getting interested in this so called "stylized 3d art" and found some really interesting stuff.
It's surely impossible for me to do a game with such art style since I'd need to hire a pro 3d modeler, learn unity/unreal, etc etc
However just to share it, I think this looks amazing:

they're 3D but looks like 2D drawings!!!

Looks pretty good when they're not trying to be too realistic, like you know who.

Yes like basically 99% of the porn games on Steam made with Daz3d
I found there are some manga-looking models though. I might take a look in future (but still is a lot of work to do them properly, better use an artist if I can find good ones).
