talking about other games, either good shareware or commercial ones that I liked in particular

sensational goal!

I remember that scream when I was playing the good old pro evolution soccer series some years ago with my friends (what memorable tournaments I made!). Now a friend developer just released a nice game – ok is not 3d, but what matters is playability…! Here is the description, directly from his website:
Sensational Soccer is a classically styled football game giving you control the whole team. Compete in league or cup competitions. Play against a friend in the 2 player mode. Create your own match winning tactics. Playable with either Keyboard or Joystick or Mouse. Full player database featuring all the squads from over a 40 leagues worldwide with realistic player stats.

Try it, you might be surprised.

galactic civilization 2

Today my copy of Galactic Civilization 2 (Galciv 2 for the friends) arrived. I tried the demo some weeks ago and was impressed about it so decided to buy it. I bought it as always from www.play.com because the price was quite lower than the one listed in their official website… ๐Ÿ™‚

After playing it for several hours, I can say I’m pleased. The game has lot of replayability and depth, even if I would have preferred a “real” battle – not just the CPU doing everything for me. The first time I saw it, I was quite disappointed, I must admit! the game is still cool, no doubts about it, but if you thought to be able to play cool intergalactic strategic wars like in the Master of Orion series, you’ll be disappointed!!

Overall a very good game, that could have been perfect (for my tastes, of course) with a turn-based battle on which you move each single ship involved in the battle.

Empires and Dungeons

Today while browsing on internet I found a nice game from Niels Bauer, called “Empires and Dungeons”. It is a sort of mix between dungeon exploration and military conquest, in the style of Civilization or better the old Heroes of Might and Magic series. It has lot of features, like resource management, units/structures building and battles with various options.
The tutorial is very well done explaining every single step, so even if you aren’t exactly an expert of strategy/rpg games, you’ll be able to understand how to play it. Was really a pleasant surprise for me, always looking for more games of this kind.

Well done! ๐Ÿ˜‰

omega syndrome

I recently found a nice shareware game made by a fellow australian developer, called Omega Syndrome, and decided to give it a try because I read on the website that was a title similar to Fallout serie (which I loved). After playing it for a while was surprised, the game reminds me really of Fallout and the battles are in the Jagged Alliance 2 style (which was another great game from the past).

I suggest all turn-based games lovers to try this one, could be a pleasant surprise!

are you scared?

Are you scared ofร‚ playing Scary Forest?ร‚ My friend at Sakura Games have just released another small but fun game, an arkanoid-style game. No need to tell you the rules I guess…! it plays and feels really like those old retrogames, very small (even as download size) but can guarantee lot of hours of fun.

I particularly enjoyed the 2 players game, survival mode… well survival is available only in the fullversion, but hey, is just a $9.95 game…!
