Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion on the way…

Yes finally after reading some enthusiast reviews I decided to order my copy of Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, the latest chapter of the Elder Scroll saga by Bethesda. Sigh I still remember playing the great Daggerfall long time ago with my 486DX2 (those were the DOS times, not even windows 95!).
Anyway I can’t wait to play it… seems very promising. I just hope I won’t need a new pc to play it…! 🙁

Worst marketing tecnique ever: EQ2 cancel subscription

I play occasionally Everquest 2. It means that I subscribe for 1-2 months, then usually I take a break of another 1-2 months. This because otherwise the game gets too much addictive and prevents me from working 🙂
BUT… every time you cancel your subscription (not the 1st time only, EVERY TIME) a windows appear with a user feedback REQUEST. Is not OPTIONAL. Fun how they name it “A few questions”. The questions actually are 27 ! and every time I cancel I must reply the same 27 questions AGAIN? Of course I click randomly like probably 99% of people, so the data they get is totally useless.
This time probably I won’t re-subscribe again. Thinking to re-do this “quick questionary” really pisses me and probably won’t make me come back to this otherwise great game anymore.

Bah…

MMORPG and YOUR time

I have been playing EQ2 a lot lately. It’s really an addictive game, even more than the 1st episode (if possible). I have a problem now (in general with all the MMORPG).
Those are kind of games that OWN you. You can’t press “pause” and go to bathroom. You play in real-time and are always on pressure.
That is bad because I don’t want to have long gaming session, but at the same time those kind of games makes you always want to play more.
It happens even with Civilization IV, but the difference there is that you CAN pause the game and have a break to do whatever you want.
Also is impressive how much hardware resource it needs. Bah I need to buy a new pc anyway to render my 3d Poser models faster… I think I’m going for a Pc with 2Gb of RAM!! 🙂

why PES5 sucks

Yes I am disappointed. After the initial enthusiasm, I can say that PES5 is not so good.
Why? easy, computer cheats.
At every level (even if I played only from 3 stars and up) the computer cheats in every manner. Some quick example:
– you shoot 10 times but their goalie makes impossible saves or you simply hit posts or miss the target. They shot 1 time and always make goal.
– they can do any kind of foul but the referee rarely whistle, while as soon as you touch them they fall on the ground.
and so on. It’s really a general sensation that the Computer Opponent has “something more” than you. Every time you play you can feel it.
Now I wonder: why do that?? they can say otherwise Computer AI is too easy. Ok well with the insane amount of money that you earn every year (PES is a top-selling serie of soccer games) INVEST in AI research instead of simply adding cheating!!! 🙁

Bah, going back to play Everquest 2, at leat is a game more “fair”.

PES5 network madness!

Ok I got PES5 last week. I was very excited about the possibility to play against human adversaries with network.
Now I can say that I’m not excited anymore. I just played 10 matches. Can you believe it? 9 out of 10 adversaries chose the team: BRAZIL.
This sucks. I always try to pick different teams, like Juventus, Milan, Italy, etc. The adversaries: BRAZIL.
Seems like to play against robots, not humans. I wonder what’s the purpose of choosing always the same team. Surely they don’t want to lose, but WTF is just a game!
There should be rules, like you can’t use same team for 2 consecutive matches. Or you’re penalized if you pick a much stronger team.
Anyway, I’m playing only the classic Master League for now. I’ll leave network play to those exhaltated guys and their super-ultra-unbeatable teams.
