talking about other games, either good shareware or commercial ones that I liked in particular

World cup is coming!

…and so I thought to simulate it with PES5, my favourite soccer game… despite the latest version AI bugs/cheats that were pissing me too much.

I played it at 2 stars levels with Italy team: too easy, could win every match without real effort. Ok then, I’ll give another try at the 3 stars I thought.

The horror! Insane, all CPU player could simply slide into my defenses like if now my defender were complete idiots! haha too fun, at 2 stars the CPU player don’t even spring (they seems mostly to just walk on the field) while on 3 star they run (and that’s ok) and they can score so easily from a second to another. Really, whatever you do, you can’t prevent them from scoring.

How you can prevent someone to score if he can launch an attacker in front of the keeper with ONE PASS from MIDFIELD? 😀 Impossible.

I was playing with a friend who started to laugh when I lost 3-1 vs USA using Brazil (nothing against USA of course, but I think in real soccer they would have hard time to score 3 goals vs Brazil…!!).

So I decided to give up PES5 and started to play this new Phelios game, Kickin Soccer. At least CPU doesn’t cheat so badly!

flash professor fizzwizzle!

Interesting post from my friend at grubbygames.com about the huge traffic spike he got thanks to a flash version of his game Prof. Fizzwizzle

The figures he posted in forums are quite impressive. I thought about making flash version of my games too, the problem is that they’re quite complex (not the average casual game) and honestly don’t know if the money/time spent on them would be recouped easily…!

a cool game, Lux Deluxe

I’ve recently tried the demo of a very cool game, Lux Deluxe, which is basically a transposition of the board game risk to the modern computers. Available both on mac and pc, I recommend anyone to try it, even if you aren’t a fan of strategy/simulation games. Is very easy to learn but, as they say, “hard to master”.

This new version focuses on the american history, from independence war to iraq war.

Elder Scrolls IV? disappointed

Yes after just 2 days playing it, I’m thinking to give it up and go back playing Everquest 2 instead. The game looks great, has great atmosphere, etc etc.

Is not a BAD game. But is a BAD RPG 🙂 I understand the XBOX owner enthusiasm since there aren’t any CRPG on consoles, but seriously, would you define a RPG a game with:

– impossibility to bash door opens (yes you have to be a thief to solve many quests)

– real-time combat without ANY strategy, block-hit block hit, cast some spells or just sneak and hit from behind (again, this is taken from thief 3)

-impossibility to have a party or be part of one

– unusual level progression! you basically improve skills as you use them, then every level you just get a bonus in the primary attributes. Pretty bad compared to Fallout leveling (with perks, etc) or even just standard AD&D leveling. When I earn a level here is like nothing happened!! 🙁

I could go on, but I think you got the idea. Oblivion? a great game, something like an adventure with rpg elements, but definitely not a classic RPG for windows.
