PSCD – meet Galina

galina

Apparently last week’s character, Cristoph (which will be changed into Cristophe thanks to the suggestion of some French friends) has shocked some user because of his abundance of hair in the abdomen part of his body… πŸ˜€

So this time here’s a nice and kind lady, Galina. Well, maybe not very kind. Read her introduction:

Name:Β  Galina Litvyak
Nickname:Β  Wraith
Nation of Origin:Β  Russia
Service Branch:Β  Imperial Intelligence Agency
Specialty: Bounty Hunter

Description:
Considered the most taciturn member of the squad, Galina wasn’t always so reserved.Β  In her civilian life, she was a successful bounty hunter.Β  While she started nabbing small-time crooks and thugs, Galina’s expertise had her catching bigger and bigger game.Β  So successful was she, she managed to bring in the head of a criminal syndicate, rupturingΒ  his organization in the process.

Unfortunately, this success marked her for death, and in a move to save her life, she joined the military.Β  Not one to squander talent when they see it, her superiors use Galina’s to extract or eliminate personnel when other conventional means have failed. Β

One incident stands out in Galina’s otherwise brilliant career.Β  While the particulars of the mission are considered top-secret, a whole noble house was brought low as a result, and Galina proudly wears the scar she earned in the course of her mission.Β  Though Imperial medicine is more than capable of healing this wound, Galina refused, since her marking, unlike the mission details, can’t be swept under the rug.

Galina earned the sobriquet of Wraith for her ability to go anywhere, no matter how heavily guarded and achieve her aims.Β  Adding a macabre twist, if her target must die, she will lay two old-time coins on the eyes of her victims, giving Death her due.

It would be wrong to say Galina never smiles, but her tastes runs to gallows’ humor and this is quiet acceptance of the end discomfits most of her teammates.Β

Β Short update

So…I’m again in a funny situation where several games are in the making, but each one has an aspect delaying it. One game is advanced for story/art, but behind with coding. Another is behind with art. Another with writing. And so on πŸ™‚

For sure the essential part of (most) of my games is the writing, since without it there isn’t a story, and the game itself. What I’m going to do from now is: with the few very reliable writers, I’ll keep producing stories, so that only art/coding is missing. This way should speed up future games. One thing is to send an artist a clear list of what to do, and a deadline. Different is to commission first some things, then some other, and some other again. Also, seems that writing is the activity that takes more time for each game, so having already some plot ready it’s surely not a bad idea!

Anyways, I also realized that of the upcoming games, except for C14 Dating and Queen Of Thieves, all the others are yuri/yaoi only. It’s not bad of course, but I’ve been considering doing a sequel to my old (but still quite famous) otome game Always Remember Me πŸ™‚ It will be different from the others since will focus on the couple life, and the final goal will be to stay together and not break up with your current partner (in the beginning you’ll be able to select your partner from the four original boys of Always Remember Me). Done this way it won’t be required to having played the previous title at all.

And the best thing is that it would be something I could do on my own (the storyboard of course, writing would be done by a pro writer) so not delaying the other projects πŸ™‚

I’m also working hard on SOTW DLC but now I am missing some art, even if I’ve already commissioned it. If all goes well should have it done by mid-April. By popular request, I’m also going to try adding a “visual novel” mode to SOTW, so that you can skip completely the battles or a least most of them πŸ™‚

I would agree that it’s a good idea to have clear requirements for the art from the beginning – I’m a bit surprised you’d commission stuff bit by bit! (This is not a stab at you, it’s just that I see things from the “other side”.)

For me, the easiest and smoothest collaborations I had were with people who told me exactly how many assets they needed in advance so that I could confidently say whether I could do it all or not and also whether I’d have needed a bit more time (say, if part of my schedule was taken by something else).

Of course, there are always going to be extra things to round the assets and unforeseen circumstances for the artists, but having as much of the deal clarified from the beginning will make sure that delays are kept to the bare minimum.

It’s also a really good idea to have reference available, if you have a clear idea of what you want. Of course, every artist is different – some prefer freedom, some prefer to have some constraints or they drown in anxiety!

Another thing that I noticed is that sometimes, if a deal is too good to be true it really is… too good to be true. Unless you’re working with someone whose currency is much lower in value than yours, you’ll probably find that some artists quote a lower price to be more “competitive”, then they realise that they’re going to starve if they sell their art at the promised price and often end up disappearing without a word. While someone who’s quoting a bit of a longer time or price might actually just be very cautious and actually deliver on time or even a bit earlier (I participated in a few NaNoRenO games lately and the last couple I finished the art for a few days before the deadline, even though I was really sure I was going to go over the deadline!).

    Also: go “furesta” men!

Oh I know perfectly that it would be the “right way” to go. The problem is when you’re doing everything in a hurry like I do. I start a project, writer delays, then start another, and to gain time I get started an artist, and so on = TOTAL MESS => welcome to my world πŸ˜€
Hopefully I’ll manage to get enough stories completely written in advance so I can commission art knowing exactly what I need πŸ™‚

I guess the “popular” request only came from a few. Cause nobody was having problems with the battles in Loren and PS and now some do have problems with it in SOTW?
I hope it’s an optional mode then, cause otherwise SOTW is turned into a generic VN and it was made as a rpg VN in the first place. I rather would like to see that SOTW just remains as it is now, cause it’s something different as all the others. Maybe it’s more an idea for a spinoff.

Yeah it would just be an optional mode of course! I don’t want to remove the RPG part from SOTW completely after all the efforts πŸ™‚ Also I am not even sure I’ll actually manage to implement it…

Unfortunately yuri/yaoi games just aren’t my thing, so I’ll have to pass on them. I’ll be looking forward to this Always Remember Me sequel, though. I don’t think the idea of trying maintain a relationship and overcoming issues that tear two people apart is something that hasn’t really been tackled in many games and I find it quite interesting.

Yeah of course I know yaoi/yuri aren’t for everyone, that’s why I decided to start with this otome game. I think that the base idea is interesting as well, I hope to make it as I have in mind, I think could turn out cool to play and something different from the usual dating sims πŸ™‚

Just my opinion, but I love how Cristophe looks with all the body hair! Love Galina too, both in her uniform and fancy clothing! Can’t wait to play this game! Hoping it’ll be out this year!

Any info on when the iPhone release will come out for season of the wolf? Also what is this new yaoi game? I try to look for its name on the news board and on the site but can’t find info on it ^^

Yes the yaoi game is still in early stages, hopefully will be out later this year.
Regarding SOTW I’m waiting for iOS because there is an update for the framework I’m using. I have put it on Android but is barely playable, especially the battles. Such games really don’t work well on phones, I honestly would never play it on mobile if I could play on desktop…

Lol I like the mobile ones so I can play on the go ^^. But I see your point the desktop one is a little better. I’ll wait a little more but I might get the computer one.

“Wraith..Quite the appropriate nickname since you haunt my every waking thought and dream at night.”
“Oh my dear Galina, Why has the cruel creator rendered you unable to accept romance. What has happened to you to make your heart remain as cold as Oymyakon in the winter..”

Also looking forward to the new Remember Me game.

Like with Cristophe, we have plans to add more romanceable characters as DLC, but since this game uses a new gameplay system we need to see how it does first. If does well, we’ll be able to add more romances and extra cards/missions later for sure πŸ™‚

Hi just wanted to say that the art for PS:CD looks amazing. Although you should make sure that Galina’s sprite is done correctly. Now it looks like she has a scar on the right side of her face in the left sprite while its on the opposite side on the right sprite. This is a common mistake with sprite concerning asymmetrical characters, you can’t just mirror them. I don’t mean this as an offence, just a warning. I’m looking forward to the finished game.

Thanks, no worries the mirrored image is just in this blog but in the game I won’t do the mistake πŸ™‚

Thats strange because i like Cristophe. I mean he look very normal in my eyes. There so much differents peoples in this world. So i see it’s in the average if Cristophe has hairy abdos. The proof ! I have myself. XD Anyway i see the team arts of winter wolves make splendid work again ! πŸ˜€ I just one question thought ? Are you not affraid in PSCD you make so much characters you become lost in the history ? Oh and again good works guys all of you ! I can’t wait to see all of yours projects. πŸ™‚

Yes having such a big team of character wasn’t easy, however since I see the writing progress I think is coming along very nicely. It was even writer’s idea to expand the cast of characters adding Lola and Kaden, so she knows what she’s doing πŸ™‚
In the end there are 13 though (more or less) so the same amount as Loren. It’s not easy but doable with a good writer πŸ™‚

Litvyak and she is Russian ?
Litva in Russian mean Lithuania, Litvyak mean Lithuanian.
her surname clash with her nationality.

Ah I didn’t know. Anyway it’s not a big deal, the surname can be changed before the game is out πŸ™‚

Actually, I don’t think I will change her last name. I was partially inspired by Lydia Litvyak, a female pilot in the Soviet Air Force during World War II. She was born in Moscow, and is considered to be the first female pilot to have shot down an enemy plane, as well as be considered a fighter ‘ace’.

Not entirely right, midget. Litvyak is a surname.
You probably mean Litvak, which is the name for Lithuanian Jews.
As it happens, this miss Litvyak, to which miakoda refers, is born from Jewish parents. it could be that this lydia litvyak is from the livaks, cause the soviet union was formed from several countries, including the 3 baltic states.

Funny thing – name Galina (Galya is short version) in our language means peaceful, serene, but can you imagine bounty hunter and head of a criminal syndicate serene ? It is cool though :D. I am realy looking forward to talk with this new character. I want to hear what she has to say to her fellow lol

Moreover, it is very rare name nowadays. It was mostly used in USSR, but now you will rarely meet a girl (under 30 years) with such name.
