you don't know who you are!

You’re a NPC! yes, you hear me right, you’re a Non Playing Character!

Lol maybe my friend gilzu drank too much beer or something… but I like that definition. About me, I like both leveling up and completing goals (quests if we want to keep talking in a RPG way!). Indeed if you notice in most RPG, completing big quests give you the best rewards/experience points, so must be the same in life.

Those quest in my RPG (life) are something like being featured on Apple homepage for 2 weeks with my game Supernova a year ago, getting cool reviews of games like this Magic Stones review, and so on. Oh, also having a nice girlfriend to share your adventure isn’t bad 😉

outsourcing problems…

While ago I thought about outsourcing some part of my work to external people. My experience was terrible. Not really because they were bad, but because of communication problems. You may be speaking english well but for certain situation/terms is very hard to find the correct word or to explain yourself well enough without wasting several minutes each time.

I envy the developers living in poor countries for this (of course there are also other aspect about living in poor countries which I don’t like!). They can find many people working for few $ (compared to european people salaries) and have no problems with communication.

I think the online market will be flooded in next years with games made by development teams from 3rd world countries where they can afford to live even with small figures of income.

a cool game, Lux Deluxe

I’ve recently tried the demo of a very cool game, Lux Deluxe, which is basically a transposition of the board game risk to the modern computers. Available both on mac and pc, I recommend anyone to try it, even if you aren’t a fan of strategy/simulation games. Is very easy to learn but, as they say, “hard to master”.

This new version focuses on the american history, from independence war to iraq war.

Universal Boxing Manager 1.3.3 released!

After 1 week of testing, I’ve released version 1.3.3 of my Universal Boxing Manager game.

Here is the list of changes in this new version, the biggest one for sure is the new search method (which was requested by a lot of customers!):

What’s New in 1.3.3

· new search boxer screen: beside the usual search by skill, now you can search the boxers based on their age, weight class and career record (wins, draws, losses and KOs)

· fixed a bug in the ranking system. Now CPU controlled boxers have a fitness value too, so they can’t fight twice on same month (that was causing a boxer you just defeated to still show ranking increase)

· fixed minor bug that was preventing boxers to recover the fitness value at normal rate. Now they should recover from matches quickly expecially if you have good health specialists

· fixed a bug that was causing incorrect statistics to be generated if you restarted the game without exiting to deskop using Quick Match

Elder Scrolls IV? disappointed

Yes after just 2 days playing it, I’m thinking to give it up and go back playing Everquest 2 instead. The game looks great, has great atmosphere, etc etc.

Is not a BAD game. But is a BAD RPG 🙂 I understand the XBOX owner enthusiasm since there aren’t any CRPG on consoles, but seriously, would you define a RPG a game with:

– impossibility to bash door opens (yes you have to be a thief to solve many quests)

– real-time combat without ANY strategy, block-hit block hit, cast some spells or just sneak and hit from behind (again, this is taken from thief 3)

-impossibility to have a party or be part of one

– unusual level progression! you basically improve skills as you use them, then every level you just get a bonus in the primary attributes. Pretty bad compared to Fallout leveling (with perks, etc) or even just standard AD&D leveling. When I earn a level here is like nothing happened!! 🙁

I could go on, but I think you got the idea. Oblivion? a great game, something like an adventure with rpg elements, but definitely not a classic RPG for windows.
