Supernova 2:Spacewar awarded!

Yes, the indie game website Gametunnel, in its popular Indie Games Of The Year awards, included my Supernova 2: Spacewar into the top5 simulation games of the year. While I think my game is more a wargame or a strategy game than a simulation, I’m still proud of have it included among the bests indie games of this year, also looking at the tough competition.

On the development side, some good news: Spirited Heart is going very well, though I think I won’t include a combat sub-game in it (I’m still not sure about that). But the characte generation is done, and also the status screen with all the various game options: Work, Study/Train, Relax, Relationship and Check Status.

It will be a weird game I think. Similar to Cute Knight, but without the dungeon part, and with a slightly different gameplay mechanic. I am also thinking to ask Hanako’s programmer to license the use the dungeon-crawler engine he used in that game, so I finally could resume working on Tower Of Destiny, which is in hiatus-mode since 2005! :/

Anyway for now I’m concentrating on Spirited Heart and 3 more “mysterious games” that will be released during next year. I don’t want to disclose too much, but each game can be described with a word: Poker, Robot and Flower.

Determinance: 20 free keys

I’ve been asked by my dev friend Paul at mode7games to promote his game on my customers, and here I am. I don’t really know how many people actually read my blog… but if they do, there’s a good surprise for them!

I am offering anyone that buys one of my games a free serial code to play Determinance, the sword-fighting game by mode7games. So in practice, buy any of my games to get that one free. But there’s a catch – the offer is limited to the first 20 buyers only!

How it works:

1) buy any of my games from Winter Wolves or Tycoon Games websites: they are UBM, USM2, Goalkeeper, Magic Stones, Summer Session and Supernova 1-2. The other game present are affiliated so they don’t count 😉

2) send me an email with the name of the product you bought asking for the free key

3) the first 20 customers will receive the code, so hurry!

When all the 20 free serials are assigned I’ll post again in the blog, so no more will be available, sorry.

Five Years and still going

Is amazing thinking that I’ve started to be indie dev 5 years ago! Time really fly!

To celebrate it, I’m preparing a small surprise: a mini quest for Magic Stones 🙂 free of course. Don’t expect a full quest like the previous one, but hey, it’s free, so don’t complain!

On other news, I’ve started working on 5 more projects! 8| crazy I know, but since now I have decided not to use Poser art anymore, I depend on artists. And usually they’re slow or disappear… so to prevent long pauses, I have started many project, so hopefully at least one artist manages to finish his job in time 🙂

Stay tuned for the announcement of the new miniquest for Magic Stones in the next few days.

More plans for the future!

Ok so I said I was on holidays… 😀 but I really can’t stay idle for too long, so I had this new idea for an adventure game based on 17th century sea travels. I am writing it right now, in my native language, then I’ll have it translated. I’m still thinking if to have it translated into several more languages, since for adventures the language can be a big barrier (not everyone knows english, but still likes to play adventures or simply read stories).

The adventure will be still in the form of visual novel (so not really a pure adventure because the object manipulation and solving quests with items won’t be present). In a way, will be different from Summer Session, because of the settings but also it won’t be a pure dating sim, and also this time you’ll take the role of Heileen, a very cute but shy blonde english girl. There will be a romance, and some really funny characters. But more about that soon in future posts.

You might notice a sort of improvvise shift in my games. Well that’s true. I tried to make complex games like UBM, Magic Stones and Supernova 2. But honestly, I have to pay my bills 😀 so, for my future games I’m really taking a more casual approach. That won’t mean worse games, quite the opposite. More intuitive games, still with a good set of rules (except the adventures of course) and more attention to the graphic part.

Just take a look at the main menu background art at Heileen official site, to understand what I mean.

No, I don’t think I’ll use poser models anymore in my future games!

For those who loves RPG don’t worry. I’m going to develop another game similar to Magic Stones hopefully next year. It will contain several card sets based on races (human, dwarves, amazons, and so on). You can admire a card image of an amazon necromancer here:

Not bad, isn’t it? definitely better than my usual Poser art ! 😉

Supernova 2 update officially released and plans for future

So yesterday officially released Supernova 2 update. Got a good response so far, and I’m very proud of the result, everyone agrees that the game now is much more enjoyable.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about take a minute to download the free demo here.

About my future plans… honestly I’m a bit burned out 😀 I think will take a rest for a while. I like the result I got with Summer Session, so I could work on its sequel, or do more adventure games, with more serious themes. At the same time I’ll try to make some progress with my other games, however for the whole moth of August I’m taking sort of a break from intensive working.

My plan is to do lots of excursions nearby to admire the wonderful lanscapes around my house 🙂 I’ll probably resume working at full-speed this autumn.

Happy Holidays to everyone!
