Bionic Heart – the neverending story

I’m having lot of fun in adding LOTs of endings to my upcoming game Bionic Heart.

There will be a “Gallery Mode” that you can quickly access from the game main menu: from there you’ll be able to replay all the endings you finished! So far as you can see I have made 9 endings but there will be many more. This I think will add lot of replay value to this title, differently from all other visual novels/adventure games I’ve done and played in the past.
Some endings will be easy to get, other will be very hard, and I expect many walk-throughs and tutorials to spread around the net once this game is released. Some endings will contain really “strong” texts (not images though) so I definitely will label this game for 14 year and up! 😉

Honestly, I can’t wait to release this game to see what the public thinks of it.

Spirited Heart released!

I’m really proud to have finally released this game!!! If I think it was already 99% done at the end of february, but had to delay it by 2 months because of translation problems… 😐

Anyway, it’s finished now. Go download it at this page.

Was fun to work in a sort of mix between a dating sim and a RPG/Life simulation. In my original idea I had planned also to have fights inside an arena, but had to leave that part otherwise the game would have been delayed even more. Anyway, as often happens with my RPG/Simulation game I’ll probably release some updates in the upcoming months so I could even add that option in future… 🙂

Spirited Heart update + new game

So in theory by mid-march my new game should have been finished. And it is. The problem is that I wrote a big part of the story (the love/relationship scenes, so the most important) into my own native language, italian. I then handled them to a “translator” so she could deliver me the final texts in time for mid-march.

The result was disastrous. A translation so poor that I would have done much much better myself alone. So, I had no choice but ask another translator (a REAL one this time) to proofread again the texts, resulting in a delay of 1-2 weeks. At this point I think the game will be ready by first days of April.

Some of you might have noticed recently I switched to more casual/simple games. But fear not! I am working also on another game, similar to Magic Stones, called “5 Elements: The RPG Card Game”:

for now I’m still in the planning stage, but I can reveal some features:

– 5 elements that influence the whole game (units and spells): fire, air, nature, death, life. Your initial choice will reflect into the kind of units you can train during the game.
– you’ll create your commander choosing from three types: Warlord, Wizard and Marksman. Each type will unlock some extra powerful leveling options for your units
– several “race packs”. Initially the game will be shipped with only the human race, but I’ll release extra packs containing new cards with new races (amazons, dwarves, etc)
– leveling avatars. The cards all start based on one of the three archetypes: melee, magic and missile. Each base archetype can evolve after level 4 into a more powerful unit, picking an element. Then after the units reach level 15, can evolve into an even more powerful unit.
– I have planned 48 unique units for each race. A unit, different from magic stones, will have a full set of skill and attack options, like a real RPG character.

Ok I think that’s enough to wet your appetite 😀

New screens and facebook app

I’ve uploaded on my facebook profile new pictures of the upcoming game, but I have reuploaded here in my blog too:

related to facebook, I made an app to play my webgame inside facebook. If you liked the game and want to see more of those in future, please take a minute to try it at this URL:

http://apps.facebook.com/heileen/

it will ask your permission to post a small feed on your facebook profile saying that you’re playing the free flash game Heileen. This way I hope to get more people interested in visual novels to be able to release more soon! 😀

New Year Goals

I never set myself any special goals, because I know I don’t need any extra motivation…being able to survive is enough 😀

But this time I wanted to. In my plans, I want to release 4 new games next year! It’s a very ambitious goal, but I think I can make it. They’ll be all sort of adventure games but mixed with other genres. You already know about Spirited Heart, but recently I’m working hard also on another game: Bionic Heart!

Fun because until now I didn’t realize I used same word (heart) on both games! But they’re very different kind of game. Spirited Heart is more casual, and in general in a happy mood. With Bionic Heart instead, I’m hoping to recreate the dark, oppressive atmospheres of sci-fi classics like Blade Runner & Co. Not an easy task of course…! For now that’s all about this game, if you’re curious you can see the main menu image below… 🙂

This kind of setting really intrigues me. I’m writing lots of texts and dialogues, I feel really inspired! Also, I’m not making a visual novel this time, but a sort of mix. You’ll have more freedom and choices, but the interface will still be simple and you won’t be stuck like in many traditional adventure games.
