Lots of decisions

morgan-julietIn the final part of Heileen 2 I’m trying to make things less dramatic. Some of the dreams Heileen has are pretty scary, true nightmares. But they don’t really fit too much into the light theme of the first game, so I’m changing slightly direction in this last part.

There will be fun moments and even the endings with the most risky sins like Wrath or Envy won’t be anything too bad.

On the left, meet Morgan and Juliet. Yes, exactly, Morgan isn’t free… even if Heileen instantly fall in love with him. But who knows, maybe things will change through the story, after some events…?

I’m also trying to keep the player active through the whole story. I know that the original Japanese VN have VERY FEW choices, and lot of text, but I think as they are they can’t work well with the western audience (if not at all).

Beside, I too like to have more control over what is happening. I don’t like too much to ask myself “why the main character did that? it was stupid, I should have had the choice to do differently!”.

decisionsSo even during this last part, that in theory was a sort of “prologue”, I’m putting many menu with decisions that will affect (even if in some cases only slightly) the final outcome.

The most important part for the outcome will be the choices you made in the previous 21 dreams, but also what you will pick in this final part: so in summary there will be 14 unique endings (one for each Sin / Virtue) and a sort of early ending for a total of 15 unique endings.

But there also will be several subquest that are triggered through the game and are independent from the main story (even if to finish them you’ll have to reach the pirates part) and the final score that you can reach will be 100 (so 20 different quests that you can solve).

I believe with all that content the game will be quite replayable and long, maybe not as Bionic Heart (who is my longest and more varied game to date) but still not bad at all 😉

Projects summary

It has been a busy week!  I organized and worked on all my currently active projects, and they’re many!  The summary is:

Bionic Heart – Today got some new voices for Bionic Heart, so we’re almost finished with it. I’m really looking forward to this release! I already sent out the beta demo out to some people and so far got very positive responses.

Planet Stronghold – I asked Deji if was possible to do some digital coloring of some old sketches another artist sent me. He is talented but he doesn’t have any digital tablet so isn’t able to do digital stuff…! I also found a character artist, she does an interesting realistic/soft-shading manga art, I think would work well in a space game.

Tower Of Destiny – Just got the new build of engine from the programmer. With it I should have enough to start creating the game maps. I’m going to add a graveyard to that town map I already posted before. Once it’s done I’m going to post another video on youtube 🙂

Heileen 2 – I’ve just commissioned new art. The game will feature some really nice art, and some small nudity too. If I have to label a game under 14 for the content, then it better be not just for the texts/description! Everything will still be of course very raffinate and soft like in the first episode. Will post more screenshots, and when the voiceover by sakebento is ready a short video maybe.

The Flower Shop – I got Marian sprite, and is really cute. I want to post shortly a sort of summary with all the characters in the game, like I did for Heileen and Bionic Heart (“The Cast”). Deji drew some really cute girls, hard to pick one…! 🙂

and there’s still another mysterious card game I’m working at which made great progresses recently too! I’m going to officially announce it when I have made a video or taken some screenshots.

Supernova 2 update officially released and plans for future

So yesterday officially released Supernova 2 update. Got a good response so far, and I’m very proud of the result, everyone agrees that the game now is much more enjoyable.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about take a minute to download the free demo here.

About my future plans… honestly I’m a bit burned out 😀 I think will take a rest for a while. I like the result I got with Summer Session, so I could work on its sequel, or do more adventure games, with more serious themes. At the same time I’ll try to make some progress with my other games, however for the whole moth of August I’m taking sort of a break from intensive working.

My plan is to do lots of excursions nearby to admire the wonderful lanscapes around my house 🙂 I’ll probably resume working at full-speed this autumn.

Happy Holidays to everyone!

Future titles of Winter Wolves & Tycoon Games

Today I did a plan on what to do next. Was hard since I have always so many ideas and so little time… 🙂

Anyway, here is the plan:

Winter Wolves

– working on Tower Of Destiny, a dungeon hack’n’slash RPG with first person view, character creation with party of 5 members, a general storyline, a pool of 20-25 heroes that will stay in town while you choose a party to go exploring the dungeon. The heroes that remains in town can train some of their skills meanwhile.

– thinking about doing a complete rewrite of UBM engine, as suggested by the feedback of some users in my forums. So creating first a generic engine that I can use to make both UBM2, but also a sort of “gladiator management game” 🙂 the idea could be very fun, especially if I manage to make it multiplayer

Tycoon Games

– working on a Tower Defense game using Supernova 2 engine. Not sure yet if will be fantasy or sci-fi. Imagine a tower defense game with a storyline, upgrading towers and mobile defenses like characters using special attack. Have still to decide if to do it turn-based or real-time, even if I am more inclined to do it real-time

– working on several updates for Supernova 2, like the addition of a skirmish mode, that will let the player buy ships and jump straight into the battle, without any macromanagement part. I plan also to add more ship/weapons and (probably later, next year) a sort of ship-design screen where you can design your own custom ship configurations

I am also experimenting with other languages (like Flash) and other ideas, but officially I’m developing those 3 titles/engines right now. I’m working a bit on every one, even if the game that will probably finish first will be the Tower Defense game, since I can use good part of Supernova 2 engine.

That’s all for now 😀

Supernova 2: saving in middle of the battles

I’m currently working on version 1.0.2, I’ve added the feature (requested by many people) of saving in middle of the battles. Indeed is a bit insane to play the battles without any chance to save, even if this can lead to re-trying the same battle by reloading a previous savegame 🙂

I’m also adding tons of minor improvement, not bugs but new features and in general things that help playing the game in a easier way. Expect a complete update within next week. I’m also working on the manual, but I am still unsure when it will be finished. I’ll first put it online on the official webiste, so I can update it day by day, then I’ll make it as PDF to put inside the game installation folder.

I want to thank all the people that bought the game so far, showing an impressive response. The best I can do is make a BIG update to help them enjoy the game even more. And after this big update, I’ll start working on the skirmish mode 😉
